sliptogrey has a list of his bootlegs with his ratings and comments next to them ( http://db.etree.org/sliptogrey/damo ) but there's no ratings site that in particular that i know of.

Why grade each recording if you are going to give everything a "A"?

hi,

let me clarify: on my list it has two fields. one rates
"the show," as in, was it a good show?

i love all damo shows, therefore i give them all A's.

the second field is the sound quality. this grades the
recording quality and the information in the notes
field is just as helpful. as far as sound quality goes
with damo shows, i'll take whatever i can get. every
new show i receive makes me very happy and is like
a child receiving another christmas gift on christmas
morning, i suppose.

Must get round to rating mine sometime

I think most of the Damo bootlegs i've heard seem to be of generally high quality, both set wise and sound quality they're not all soundboard but most audience recordings are good quality too. I guess we're pretty lucky, all praise the tapers they do do a great service

the best quality shows i have are:

Feb 09, 2002 - The Lobby - Cork, Ireland
Mar 01, 2002 - The Olympia, Dublin, Ireland
KCRW Sessions (Late 2002, Early 2003)
Feb 19, 2003 - UNION CHAPEL RECORDING *(SBD)*
May 01, 2003 - Sin-E, New York City, NY, USA
May 30, 2003 - El Ray Theater - Los Angeles, CA, USA
Nov 04, 2003 - Backstage Club - Munich, Germany
Nov 21, 2003 - Cane's - San Diego, CA, USA
Mar 09, 2004 - Officine Estragon - Bologna, Italy

I think that, in general, the shows have gotten better in quality more recently, maybe becuase better qualified tapers at at the shows now or tapers are learning how to better tape them. either way, i'm very happy with ANY damien show, but good quality ones are even better

The ratings are a little confusing but I liked the comment above. Each monday this guy posts on Etree another part of the insane Dead '77 run. I get all freakin' excited and for the rest of the work week I have a show a day to listen to. It's actually a pleasure to go to work now. Who would of thunk it. Be good.

If you liked my Bologna recording (BTW, thanks for having put it between your favorites!) you should listen to my other one (Milano Nov. 4th, 2003); I am working on an enhanced (I hope so) remaster of it, so I should reseed it soon

Thanks cnpubwear. I never listened to 12-08-03, it must be great.
Unfortunately, I never managed to get into the FTP server.

dmbit - thanks for taping Bologna! That's definitely the best quality Damien Rice show I have. I can't wait to hear the Milan show (I'll be checking Sharing the Groove a lot for it )

I think the quality of the shows is getting better, because the last time he toured the States the equipment he used was sh*t and couldn't handle it when the full band comes in...and a lot of the shows circulating were from that tour. But now he's got good equipment and the boots sound better.

AllThatLies - how do you know that ppl new to taping haven't got better?
