"Neither am i" is definately alot more melodic and chilled out... i would recommend that one as i still prefer it to "music in mouth" as an album oh and i saw them first at the fair trade gig and been to see them 3 times since and they get better and better with each visit

Paul was asked about the many biblical references recently in an interview- "My next-door neighbour was a Methodist minister, and when I was really young he bought me a big Bible Stories for Children book, and I’ve always loved them. I’ve always loved the whole idea of the Garden of Eden and that beautifully simplistic world view it had. And the fact that people actually take it literally I find hilarious."
i.m.o. I'd recommend 'Music In Mouth' as the better of the two albums. It's just a much more coherent, uplifting piece of work.. Have seen Bell X1 play twelve times now heh hehEdited by: Loveless |

Andtasha, you should just get'em both! You'll probably end up doing that anyway when you hear how good one is.

Saw them at Witnness and they were great! Wish i'd have known all of their stuff as well as i do now. Kinda only really got into them after seeing them live. I had "Neither Am I" but never really listened to it. Now the two albums are never off my radio. I'd have to say they're not much different live. Although i always prefer a live preformance over an album, any day!. They're as chilled and mellow as they sound in their albums. Maybe Jeweller or other bigger fans would disagree though.......

I have "Neither Am I" but had a lackluster reaction to it. I just got "Music In Mouth", but have listened to it only once, so I can't say anything yet.
I had a hunch they'd be similar live. *waits for jeweller to jump in* |

They can be great when they're chilled and mellow but the last time I saw them, which was a few weeks ago in Cork, they blew me away. They really rocked the place and reminded me of U2 for the first time. Paul, the singer, was especially great. They deserve to be huge.

sorry lads i havent been able to touch a keyboard in the last ages due to life being very busy and becoming an honourary alcoholic... In responce to your first post daol yes i know of a few bootlegs... theres some on www.irishmusiccentral.com from a gig in TBMC the others i could send to u via ftp or over msn or something... I think they are totally amazing live and it cant be captured on CD how good they really are... The last time i saw them in the village i was blown away even tho i had seen them twice before that... they dont try to change the sounds of songs or if they do it isnt as noticable... Paul is an amazing frontman... and to think that when Damien left Juniper they said there wasnt a frontman among the band... how wrong were they? and the best of the 2 albums for me is still "Neither Am I" as a whole the album is so reflective altho at times i just really wanna rock out to "Music in mouth" fav 3 songs - Tongue, Alphabet soup, Beautifull Madness

If any hadn't noticed Damo's version of tongue uses the very same chords as "Insane".It sounds pretty good though

yes Bell X1 are a rockin' live band now. they used to have more quiet songs when Neither Am I came out and Paul was sitting behind the drums and singing. but now they've got a seperate drummer and Paul is out front doing the whole frontman thing and they're great live.
