Default cardiff on friday, whose going?

I'm going to the gig on Friday, it can't come soon enough, but when its over i'm gonna be really depressed, the thought of waiting ages for Damien to perform again is seriously crap.

Even thought he wont tour for a while, do you think he may stilll appear at festivals?

If you are going he might tell everyone to come to the front, just before he sings coconut skins, so get ready, he did at Nottingham, but didn't at Birmingham. Luckily i'm in the front row so i'll be straight there if he does.

Who else is going?

Well you've got a good opportunity to hang out with him, from reading past reviews from others he seems to do a mini performance at the end of each tours for the people who stay behind to meet and greet. That should keep you ticking over until next year

I'm going!!! Yeah!!! I can't even believe that I'm actually going!
I have bad seats way in the back....I'll enjoy it anyways, eventhough I wish so badly I would have better seats near the front...
This time I'll really gonna wait for Damien and tha Band, since it's the last time for a long time probably...
We should all wait together!!!
I'm so excited!!!

Just returned from Cardiff! I seriously think that might be the best gig I have ever been to! And Simon and Garfunkel in hyde Park takes alot of beating!!
But I was completely blown away! However good bootlegs are, you just can't capture all the energy and passion of one of his shows, and tonight it took my breath away, quite literally in some places!
Magnificant set list and one of the best show openers I've ever seen! Over two and half hours!! Was as follows...

Opening jam > Volcano
Elephant
Rat Within The Grain
I Remember/Bang Bang/Jam
Rootless Tree
Stone (I hadn't heard this before, but he told my friend, who met him after the gig that it was named this, reminded me alot of Baby Sister and Fool)
The Professor and La Fille Danse
You Shouldn't Be Here
Dogs
Beats and Beauty
9 Crimes
Coconut Skins
Woman Like A Man
Cannonball (Unplugged)
Unplayed Piano
Seelp Don't weep
The Blower's Daughter
What This Night Is For
Me, My Yoke And I

There were so many highlights, but I think my favourite was Sleep Don't Weep, which I wasn't expecting at all! 9 Crimes was also particularly good, with all the band coming in at the end and it really building up!

There was lots of talk about toilets and sperm from the man himself, which was quite amusing! He also talked about Lisa quite alot. He said that they had worked together so well for so many years, but that this year, it got to the point where it the healthiest thing to do was go their sepearte ways and for her to do her own thing, rather than to get sucked too deeply into his whole thing (or something along those lines). He got applause for her and Tomo, and later dedicated What This Night Is For to them and the rest of the band, saying that it was a song about a being in a certain time and place with a group of friends, and recognising that there would never be another moment quite like it!

All in all, it was a fantastic night! I did take some photos, but I'm not sure how they came out, as I can't find my computer lead, so that will have to wait!

Bravo Damien!! Don't stay away too long!!

Thanks so much for the review Caitlin! Glad to hear you had such a great time! Do you happen to remember any of the lyrics to "Stone"?

Gosh...what a setlist! Rat, Stone, You Shouldn't Be Here, Beast and Beauty, What this Night is For....

I know, i couldn't have asked for a better setlist!!

I did try to remember some of the stone lyrics, but they've gone completely out of my head now! I know there was something about a crown in the first few lines! But past that, not much sorry!!

Amazing setlist, wish I had been there

New song new song!!!! Hopes someone taped it!!!!!

He almost played all his post-9 new unreleased in one show: Beast and Beauty, What this night is for and You shouldn't be there!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's only the 2nd time ever he's playing You Shouldn't be there. Hopefully we'll get a recording and then we can follow the evolution of the song, was kinda unfinished first time around... anyone remember how it was now?? same as last time??

I feel that this happening shows that Damien was apprehensive about talking about Lisa, although he really wanted to. It's maybe been that he's been trying to spit out what happened since Germany but he just hasn't found the right words in other gigs, but this was his last chance to do so for a while so he had to do it in Cardiff

he really cranked it up for the UK tour! Manchester and Cardiff were both awesome - i preferred Manchester becuase of a better seat! But both top notch gigs!

I've just got home, and there isn't words that can sum up the gig. It was more than amazing.

I was nearly crying during 'sleep don't weep' and 'what the night is for', especially because he dedicated it to the band that were there and Tomo and Lisa and said the moment wont be the same again (don't know whether he was saying the band wont all be together next time he tours, or maybe he wont tour again, or maybe he wont do arena tours again)

I can't believe how close i got to him, i was in the front row but when he said people can come closer i went to the barrier and was soo close to him

I waited afterwards to see if i could get to speak to him, but when he turned up i didn't know what to say so i just smiled. Afew people spoke to him. He said he hasn't anything planned for the next year and he might spend time back packing around the world. He said that he needs to clear his head from all this, you could tell that arena tours aren't his thing.

He was soo friendly. He wouldn't give some one an autograph or wouldn't let her take a pic as he said he doesn't see himself as famous, he's just a guy with a guitar!!! and said he had an aftershow party to get back to. He also said he was going back to Ireland today.

I wish i had taped the new song (if it is a new song) but i don't like holding my phone up coz he doesn't like it and there was a man next to me who kept taking pics and it was really annoying coz even during cannonball (without the mic) you could here his camera clicking. But it would be good to here the song again!

Thank you Damien
You have made my year, but please hurry back!!!!!!

I know it's a bit late for adding reviews, and other people have already done a great job of summing up the evening...Damien and the band really did pull out all the stops, I'm so glad I got the chance to see the last gig of the tour and hear some new songs, what a treat!
