Default encore idea for the tour?

so a thought came to me..... clearly, i've got a lot of excess time -- and brainpower -- on my hands.

clearly, there's been a bit of interest in the meditation bowl solo at the end of "sleep don't weep." a friend who got the cd wondered if mr damien's gone schizo as the album's so charged, and then we get 15 minutes of the singing bowl to close it out.... what's really funny is that, for those who remember the "songwriting-as-masturbation" analogy, the bowl could be seen as the post-orgasm ease. hmm.

anyway, everyone knows of the custom of holding up lighters (or, these days, cellphones) at the end of the set to call for an encore.... for the upcoming tour, however, has anyone thought about subbing that for a meditation bowl?

just imagine 1,000 or so of those going off simultaneously. it'd be quite the moment -- not to mention the EF's equivalent of throwing Kraft dinner at barenaked ladies. (remember, light and darkness at DR shows play a keen purpose..... the sound would be more apropos.)

anyways, just a suggestion from a fan with a lot of free time. cheers to all!

Well, it's actually quite difficult to keep them going like that. Gotta use a little metal stick and quickly turn it in a circle inside the bowl to build up the vibrations and then remove it without clanging against the side. Takes quite a bit of practice and just the right touch!
