Help me - I am not sure about my band name...

So, my one-woman band has for a while now been called 'The Cille', and I'm beginning to doubt this is what i should release my debut album under. What do you think? See poll below....comments are welcome!

PS - Cille is a common Danish short form of my real name, Cecilie. So personally i think that calling myself 'Cille' is rather boring. But this is what most people end up calling me on gig bills, etc.
'The Cille', on the other hand, seems clumsy to me - esp. when pronounced by Danes. What i like about the 'the', however, is that it makes it more of a band name, like erhm... the beatles, if you've heard of them.

So...what should it be, oh wisest eskimofriends?

If it were me, I would go with Cille or if you find that too boring, your real name. Can't wait to hear your new stuff!

I like just the one name, cille is kinda unique and theres far too many "the" bands out there!

i think you have a beautiful name and to be honest, i think cecilie fits your music better. if you don't want to go with it i'd just go for cille without "the".

"We're adults now and write some serious stuff, so we use our surnames!"

"We make art and it changes our identity and so we take on new names and leave all that stuff behind us, we are... ok, I'll have to think of a name and make a list of 25 or so good sounding names and then pick from them but wait there is another name that comes to my mind and does it actually mean anything, oh wait, I had an idea about this song and another melody, no I'll think about more names first!"

My vote goes to "Cille"! Seconded by your full name.

What others have said... either just Cille (it might be common in Denmark, but not at all so internationally), or Cecilie + lastname. Cecilie is a beautiful name indeed, and whichever you go with, one way or the other it has the 'silly' in it.

Or as the French would say:
C'est Cilly.

I must say I am never ganna call myself my real, full name - just to protect my own core and identity. I don't really wanna be recognized.

The band name thing could, like 'The Cille' is at the moment, lthough nobody says it right and I kind of hate it, help me project something that isn't my boring everyday self into music. I hate hearing about people's 'real authentic' stuff all the time. I would like to go into other realities, not having top represent 'Cecilie Illemann Hammershøy', who is a total selfobsessed whining bore. I am sick of selfobsessed whining music.
And I will always be truthful and honest - just not by-the-numbers honest. I caould write a song about a dieing planet and it'd still be me expressing that pain, but not me whining about my appendix hurting or some guy leaving me. Not too much at least.

And Oli - I AM working. But I just began wondering what label I should put on the fruit that comes out of all of this work. Cause i want people to ****ing eat that ****ing fruit.

I do prefer Cille, too. And you still could be named just Cille and have a band around. Think Sade for instance, it's a band but named after the singer's name...
