Damien Rice as Gaeilge??
Anyone know if Damien has any Gaeilge? I'm working on a new CD for Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) and looking for acts willing to do one of their famous songs through Irish-
In previous years we've had Swell Season, Frames, Coronas, Cathy Davey, Lisa Hannigan, Mundy, Saw Doctors etc but it would be amazing if Damien was interested- been trying to contact him for a while but its impossible |

I've never heard of him ever showing signs of even a slight knowledge of Irish. But, as far as I know, neither Glen nor Lisa or Gemma Hayes are proficient with the language, so this shouldn't be a barrier.
The one thing I find problematic is that practically everyone else from the Dublin busking scene has participated, with the exception of Damien. I think if he was willing, he'd have done his bit by now.

I know that Glen has a bit of proficiency. I chatted with him in Gaeilge outside of his concert in Baltimore last year. He was rusty, but he knew a bit. Anyway, I hope that Damien participates in this. It'd be great to even just have a new recording of a song.

Send me a private message with details and I can forward it on.
I really liked those CDs in years past, well done for putting them together. |
