Sorry if someone has posted these already, but they are new to me. Here's another artist with Damien. Both songs are brilliant, but they make me wonder if Damien wants to be more in the background for a while. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BEyk...os=5et70WXGacw

Yes, the album is from 2006...
"Q: You famously performed with Damien Rice in Iceland, which led to a recording: how did that occur and what came out of it? Are you still in touch? Lara: My friend Kári was organising his show at NASA in 2004 and got me to support him. We became really good friends, and I knew that he loved the song "Why?" from my album "Ţögn", so I asked him to sing it with me. Yes, we are still friends." source: http://www.icelandmusic.is/In-the-sp...n/default.aspx |

I'd never seen/heard of this either and although he only sings a few Oh's in the background I love this song. I'm going to have to check out her other stuff. I think we forget just how much Damo has done with Iceland and it's artists until he busts out the traditional song in their native language last night. Very impressive and a place with such natural beauty that it seems to suit his spiritual temperament really well.

I think Bjork/Sugarcubes are one of the few Icelandic acts the rest of the world knows, but I'm glad we've been finding out more about them here lately. Some really great music and Lara's other stuff on her page while mostly more upbeat and fun is all really wonderful.

^Don't forget Jonsi/Sigur Ros = best band in the world, consistently releasing amazing music for the last 10 years!!

i can assure that sigur ros is well know in argentina and i guess it´s the same in the rest of latin america. they played in a sort of a forest in mexico two years ago and it was a blast of a concert, according to the friends of mine who attented to.
but emiliana (i like her name )... i heard about her from you for the first time (and later from mia maestro, cause she was the supporting act at some gigs last year).

I was at a Sigur Ros concert once - definitely one of the top 5 concerts ever! When I listened to the Inspired by Iceland concert today I remebered that Amiina played there, too. I really liked them but totally forgot about them. I should listen to more Icelandic music.

I adore Emiliana and think everyone here would be blown away by her too but agree that she's not well-known enough to the average person. Forgot Sigur Ros was from there but although they're alternative favorites and critics darlings again, the only true household name is Bjork.

isn't that a bit of a coincidence? we speak a bit about Icelandic artists, Emiliana's name pops up, and then we found out in an old youtube interview with Mia Maestro that Emiliana is also on the Duets Album

yes,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcEZtGEAFbE ^this is part 2. the bit about Damien is at the very end and cuts when the part about the duets/nature album is mentioned... resumes in part 3 but there is a gap missing...

ohhhh and everything is in Spanish no English
but basically Mia says that she has a small studio at her house in LA and that she shares it with Damien Rice. then she says Emiliana came to LA to record with Damien as part of a project he's taking, and that's how Mia and Emiliana met, and afterwards Emiliana offered Mia a support slot on her Icelandic tour.
