k, i'm 23 and live in cork. first heard damien on hisownwhen he was down supporting the frames when they released "for the birds" last year. he played in the lobby and in clonakilty and in the savoy in 2 days and i thought he was amazing. my fave songs by damien are 1) front door, 2)delicate and 3) toffee pop. wanted to set-up this site mainly because there was nowhere with all the lyrics in one place, and the message board on his site isn't so easy to use. can't wait for him to come back and play in cork, hopefully somewhere nice and big like the everyman. anyway, that's me. who's next?

Simon. 26, from Wales. In Dublin.

First heard Damien in an internet cafe in Temple Bar (a recording. not live.) Was so impressed I had to ask the guy who it was singing. Couple of days later, found Blower's Daughter single in Virgin.

First time I got to see him was at The Olympia, then in Whelans (the Lisa vocals show), HMV, Witnness and Music City.

....NEXT!

Actually I am a brutal Chilean dictator wanted for war crimes. Perhaps not, occasionally I masquerade as a 22 year old ex-student having recently graduated... Introduced to Damien Rice by the website guru himself - sadly I can't actually recall when I first heard/saw Damien, but have seen him and Lisa play the Lobby in Cork and the full blown Damien Rice Experience (including a full supporting cast!) at the Green Energy Festival in Cork this year... (June 2002)

I'm Declan, I'm a 22 year old Biotech student. I run www.avaricestudio.com.

I've been a fan of Mr. Rice since the Juniper days. First saw him solo at a TBMC charity gig about three years ago.

i'm aisling, 19 and live in dublin. although i used to quite like juniperi was never the crazed fan some friends of mine were but i certainly knew his name from those days.found "the blowers daughter" demo on a hotpress compilation cd from... mid-2001... it became the soundtrack of that summer and i listened to it non-stop. saw him do a short set by accident in dublin later that year, not realising it was himtil he played blower's daughter. since theni've been going to every gig i possibly can (which is...lots).favorite gig has to be one at the stables in mullingar earlier this year. *love* thesong down as"untitled" on the lyrics page, but unfortunatelydon't have it recorded anymore. the end.x

i'm gwen, a 19 year old art student living in dublin for college but originally from westmeath. i was first formally introduced to damien's music at the album launch for 'o' last year, when aisling dragged me to it. it then became clear that an old friend had been really really into Juniper back in the day but other thanknowing 'Weatherman', i wasn't a great fan at the time. I'd also heard 'The Blowers Daughter' on 'Those Petrol Emotions', free cdwith hotpress, and thought it was a beautiful song. and apparently we heard damien play a few songs at the Mic Christopher Benefit gig as well, but up until i totally fell in love with damien's music at the album launch, i hadn't a clue who he was. since then i've been going to see him play live as often as possible. i've so far seen him 7 times and talked to him twice. he's dead sound and well worthy of all this support. my favourite gig would have to be, like aisling, the stables earlier this year. 'Lonelily' has got to be one of the loveliest songs ever but i really really like 'woman like a man'. and most other songs of his. ooh and 'groovy' is brilliant

Hi Jason here cool website, Damien Rice is possibly one of the greatest songwriters I have ever heard. His ability to write songs with such a deep level of commitment to himself, that playing those songs live with such intensity, has to hurt or punish him somewhere on an emoitional level. The only other person besides thom yorke to accomplish this feat, well to attempt to anyway, is me. Well ok only kidding, but someday. I hope. Oh I'm 23, a musician and have spent the last 5 months trying to cure a broken heart. Which has produced some dark songs which will probably never see the light of the day.

hi,

I'm Sorcha (23).

I like music that has feeling behind it so I think that's why I like what Damien is doing. I heard him live about 2 years ago in Molloys or the International. He wassinging about some eskimo muse he looked to, thought he must be crazy, sure isn't everyone? He turned out to be one of those guys who can write songs that people relate to,you end upfeeling that he is writing about your own experience (like he read your diary or something). And once you hear them you can't forget. I'm in a band too, so please forgive the rambling analysis, I think it comes with the territory.

I really like the site Emmett!

His cd is really hard to find over here. I couldn't believe it-Virgin didn't have it

as far as I know Juniper split up because there was a difference of opinion as to what musical direction to go in. So Bellx1 were formed and Damien headed off busking around Europe. Bellx1 released Neither am I which includes Volcano and Face. It's well worth checking out but has a totally different vibe to Damien's stuff since leaving the band. I think they're really good though. And I reckon if you like Damien Rice, David Kitt and the Framesthen you might like Bellx1 too.

well,im rice_crispy and im 17 years of age and i am sitting my leaving cert too, im from the northwest (yes, lots of rain!!) and ive only been a fan of damein for two weeks and yes i shouldnt even call myself a fan but from the moment i heard him i just knew that this was like nothing i had ever heard before, i love all types of music ive ben singing since the time i could talk and of all the artists i have ever heard not one has ever had this effect on me before.

I will never forget the first time i saw him (and i know it a bit early saying that but ohh my god the shock) i was sitting there in my sitting room and the lights were off which is a bit strange in my house cause theyr never off it seemed like this was a moment to never be forgoten and all of a sudden the lights went low and this guy came to the mic.never saw him before in my life very causualy dressed.. hmmm "wonder who this is?" and then he started to sing... and i just sat there for 4 minutes in complete awe! "cant take my eyes of you, cant take my eyes..." who the hellis that!!!

For the next day i was just in a daze! i just have to know who that is! so literaly ran to the computer checked the later' website and there it was singer/songer Mr Damien Rice! from kildare? where the hell had i been! And from that day till now i have not gotten him out of my mind" got the album have the tickets.. and as sure as im irish he has got in me a fan for life!

I'm James, 16 from northeast US. I'm not sure how many Americans listen to Damien Rice, but I know I'm just one of the few. I started listening to him through one of my friends who's been a fan of him, and I'd have to say that O is one of the best albums I've ever heard. It had me right away, and I've been hooked since.

The first song I heard from his was "The Blower's Daughter", and i couldn't imagine it could get any better than that. However, "Amie", "The Professor", "Cold Water", "Cannonball", and many many others have since been playing nonstop ever since.

Hi I am Rodrigo

I am 19 and from switzerland

I don`t even know how i got into the damien stuff.

i downloaded the Album and was blown away

i mean I`ve about 1100 Albums, most of them downloaded and burned

but there are some Albums that impress me that much thatI buy them.

I paid 50 Swiss Francs (about 35Euros) for the import of"o", it is worth every dime.

I love the guy who tabbed out the songs cause the thing I first did when I arrived at this homepage a month or so ago, was to print the tabs and play the songs. thx.

The cool thing about living in switzerland is no one knowsDamien here, the sucking thing is as i am a student and don`t have to much money i wont be able to see him live .

PS: What happend to the Irish Band Prayer Boat? Thougt them to be a cool band (very Buckley style singing by emmet)

I'm Emer(22) from Kildare-Wahey, Damien Rice country! I first saw Damien when he sang at my Confirmation eleven years ago. Knew of Juniper because they're from around here but never got into them. Rediscovered Damien last Summer and have been a major fan ever since. His is the best live performance I've ever seen. Saw him last night in Newbridge and was blown away.

Hi I'm Singing and I' pretty new to forumssoI'm hoping that this ends up in the Introduce Yourself page. I'm 28 and from Wales and first heard a Damien Rice song on Sean Hughes' BBC6 radio show. The song was Eskimo and what a song it is! I soon found out that the rest of the songs on 'o' were just as special. All I can say now is - Damien come to Wales!
