Here are the newsgroup links - I can't download behind my firewall, but maybe someone can?

Looks ok to me - 2 & 3 are back to front. To be honest, I haven't a baldy when it comes to newsgroups. Anyone hooked a download yet?

Ah, OK. I know what I did...I looked at the "[02/13]" and there was no [01/13].

Sorry to be dense, I've never used alt.binaries. How do you download the files? The link goes to another web page. And then?

I've got a newsgroup reader so as soon as I finish copying this other disc for someone I'll download it. Thanks for the heads up!

Oh, and the show is also on the alt.binaries.music.shn newsgroup, along with the 9/26//03 KCBO radio broadcast with Damo and Vyvienne.

Also -- is there a text info file with setlist info anywhere?Edited by: mierk

They resolve to alt.binaries.music.shn , you can configure outlook express to browse this newsgroup and then download and join the file parts together again

If all of the file parts are there, Outlook should automatically join them together for you. You should then be able to open them in any program that supports that file format (WMP/Winamp/iTunes/Musicmatch) I'll need to dig around to find some links for progs that will join them if outlook fails,

take care, Nick

IF and only IF your ISP offers that newsgroup Or do you know of a >> free << news server that does?

Angela,

If you haven't already put your discs in the mail, you could add a disc and I could copy it for you.

It turns out that it's actually part of a radio show (which I could have found out had I simply looked it up on etree), so it's brief interviews mixed with songs. The setlist goes:

Interview/Volcano/Interview/Cold Water-->Hallelujah/Interview/Face/Interview/Amie/Interview/Blower's Daughter II/Blower's Daughter

Given that it's a radio broadcast, the sound quality is fine (though I did hear a couple of random incoming yahoo instant messenger sounds at weird spots???). It's certainly worth doing a torrent of though. I'd be glad to do it myself if you could show me how, I've asked around for help on how to seed but haven't found anybody willing to give me a hand yet.

That must be fairly recent if it has TBD pt2 in it. And it sounds like it was recorded with Total Recorder. A friend of mine once recorded a web cast and ended up having all our AIM ding-dong's (<- note my sudden change to the German language!) on it .

So, that's an interesting question: is a webcast good enough to warrant distribution via shn?

WDYT??

I'd say yes, especially if there isn't any other recordings out there. It's not like constant "uh-oh's!" going on, maybe 2-3 through a 50 minute session.

ok, here's a quick rundown on how to torrent something. note that the program i suggest doesn't work with sharingthegroove's tracker (you're welcome to use mine if you want).

1. download bteasy and install
2. right-click the shn directory and choose 'torrent with bteasy'
3. type in the "announce" url for the tracker you're going to use (typically it is something like http://domain.com:6969/announce) and make the torrent.
4. upload the torrent file to the tracker
5. double-click the torrent file on your computer and point it at your shn directory. if it verifies to 100% and you don't get a tracker error, you're all set! all you have to do is spread the torrent file then and keep your window open.

hopefully that helps.. any questions, ask.Edited by: stonecrest
