Linda, pm me you phone number cause I lost it. The guys are enjoying the West Coast between gigs so I doubt they'll be online. See you tomorrow!

worst audience ever, Damo was so pissed off, he only talked once to tell people to shut up but after that he lost it and wasn´t really there

but at least we got ESKIMO which he clearly played for us

setlist on paper is amazing but he played like if he wasn´t there, painful for here to be there, painful for us to watch

for sure he will never play Galway ever again and I would´t go there for a gig either

Eskimo was a nice treat though.

I am rarely embarrassed to be Irish. In fact I'm usually v proud of my nationality.. And my heritage.
I love our unique qualities and our poetry and music. i love that a little country like mine has bred some of the world's best musicians, Damien Rice amoung them...but.. How I cringed tonight.. Frm the opening track people carried on like there was no-one on stage, particularly bad down the back where the seating for disability was...when you come to see an artist like Damien, you have to respect the quietness and nuances of his performance.. When he said it was like a cattle market, rather than a gig, I felt his annoyance.. The lovely Scottish couple beside me were seeing him for the first time, and I was extolling his virtues, saying how amazing he is live after the wonderful Iveagh Gardens gig, but tonight I was so uncomfortable..
And angry .. I thought he was going to walk off...he just closed down, no funny stories, no chat, nothing.. He went into automatic mode and we were the losers.. People continued to take selfies and chat during even the quietest moments and ruined it for me and others. i wished I could have stood at the front with other true fans and at least felt the positivity... Yes it's arts week, and yes its the big top, but show the artist and your fellow audience members some respect please Galway!!!! I heard people saying it's not the right venue for him, not the right artist for the festival BUT people knew who they were coming to see...and giving out about the bar closing. Arrggghhh.. Imagine how much worse it would have been??? The mind boggles....I feel half the audience must have been there on a freebie after drinking sessions for the festival and didn't care who played. I wish I had kept my memories of the fantastic gig that was the Iveagh Gardens... Whoever said Irish audiences are the best....they're talking through their arse after that shambles.. I would love to have hugged him after cos I'm sure he's so pissed off...such a shame that this was allowed happen, security didn't give a crap....I love Damien and he deserved to be listened to tonight.. What should have been amazing wasn't... Sorry for the rambling.. Lovely to meet Vere and Co after, albeit briefly and I almost feel like I should apologise for the behaviour that went on......I'm going to bed without a smile and happy memories like Sunday....and deflation not a great emotion...to all the Eskimo friends who travelled, it's a shame what happened.... Maybe emails to Damienrice.com are in order!????

Aw, I'm so sorry you guys had a lousy time at a Damien concert! And I'm sorry the awful audience affected his performance. Like Damien, I also cannot understand why people spend money to go to a concert to be disrespectful to both artist and others in the audience.

Sorry to hear this, guys. Like lod says...the mind boggles...I really don't understand why come to a gig just to load yourself with booze and talk to friends??? Surely there's pubs for that????
The man is giving his 100% and then some, and you feel it's more important to take a effing selfie?!
Really looking forward to seated gigs to come...

I felt so sorry for the guy.
He really tried, but even in the front row the constant murmur was almost unbearable.
I can only imagine what that feels like when you're on stage.
When he had to stop trusty and true, because no one was listening and the sound of the harmonium was completely drowned out by the audience, I was certain that he would just leave the stage and not come back. It was heartbreaking.
But he stuck with it and finished his set.

Eskimo was beautiful, it seemed to really fit the situation as well.
As for the rest of his performance, he gave it his best, but under these circumstances, any one would have a hard time to lay out their souls on stage.

Let's try to forget this gig, and look back on the incredible nights in Dublin and Cork.

If you read this, Damien (I know he doesn't, but I want to say it anyway), thanks for trying!

Wow, that's crazy. Cork was in a big top too but the audience was amazing. Even for Colm beforehand, the crowd all came in and you could hear a pin drop (nearly).

That at least sounds like a great moment. I'm sure Damien recognised the faces in the front row... and it helped him through it.

Damien should buy a venue in Cork and just play here every night :-D

Thanks for the setlist. Wow ! You got Eskimo...

I feel so sorry for the "indelicate" audience.
It reminds me a showcase in Paris, at Le chalet des Iles, on november.
There was a lot of noise and he was in a bad mood...

I'll be in Lyon, Paris and Lucerne during next days.
I wish we'll share great moments...

Yes the same for me,
so sad...

I just hope it will not be the same in Lyon !
...
(i think no problem for Paris and Lucerne)

chatters suuuuuuuck. I don't get people that go to a gig to drink, chat and take f**** selfies. So disrespectful for the artist and those who are actually there to enjoy the music :S

Seems the argument is divided between the " don't tell us what to.do,we're entitled to drink, chat etc brigade.... And us true fans whose night was ruined by the inconsiderate behaviour.... . That's what's coming across on the Anton Savage show on today fm this morning, and boards.ie and reddit etc...

Any there any Eskimos in Galway still, who'd like to meet??

Yeah, so strange... would they do it at the cinema? at a play? at a classical concert? It's respect for everyone else who paid even more than for the artist.

I'd argue with them on that one all day long... If they did that in the cinema they'd be kicked out, how can they say a concert is any different?
