I don't mind helping at all but i'm not so experienced in Flash, and i see that's what you started with.

+ the three for navigation is nice
- not so much a fan of the background photo
- Don't like the font, specially the embossed effect.

What i would do is try a damien-like approach, a handdrawn tree, simple, and animate the leaves or flowers as menu options.

And oh, never put a coming soon, or under contruction message up!

Oh yes, lisa-hannigan.com is still available!

Nice one for all the positive comments. If anyone has photo's for the gallery or any info on Lisa I'd really appreciate it. The website should be fully functional and up early January.

If someone could tape me Ireland's Other Voices broadcast on RTE in Ireland in 2007 - that would make my year... I'd return the compliment with a DVD or some rare audio... PM if you can help me out.

Exclamation Lisa Hannigan Refined Launched Today!

I am pleased to launch the website today, despite many delays, the main one being my sister giving birth to her first baby on Friday December 29th, so the house has been in a right uproar.

It's still very much a work in progress, so keep checking back for new contents added. If you have anything to add I would welcome any assistance and content to publish on the website - just drop me an e-mail.

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Happy New Year!

Baz

Very interesting that the two websites it looks like you've designed are for Lisa and Divine.
Rather diverse tastes you have.

Hi, one tip i would give from a design point of view it try to make navigation as easy as possible. So for example once you've entered a section from the tree, give a simple menu on the top or side so you can avoid going back to the home page every time.

It looks like you know what you doing, but if you need any technical advice give me a shout!

Looks good though!

Sorry, I think the site is awful.

I hate waiting for Flash to load.
The tree menu is really annoying. Apart from waiting for the Flash to load, you then need to wait for it to "grow" and then for the menu items to slowly appear. And why the butterfly flying around my screen?
Navigation is impossible without returning to the main page.
Links to "Coming Soon" are annoying.
I can't right click to force a window to open somewhere else 'cause everything is Flash.
Gallery images open in a new tab/window.
A lot of the images are cropped versions of other widely available ones.

Apart from all that, I don't think Lisa Hannigan needs her own site at this stage of her career. How much news is there going to be that isn't related to Damien Rice band? Yes, she does the odd show on her own, and appears as a guest with some other bands now and again, but I really can't see any community forming around her site - not yet anyway.

Ignore that paragraph if you're just practicing making a site for the sake of it... I wouldn't ignore the list if criticisms at the top of thist post though.

I can't say that I am a fan of the site being completely in Flash. From a design standpoint, it's not the best choice. As Banjaxed said, one needs to wait for things to load (including the navigation tree itself) and visitors would be unable to choose how links open (new window, tab, etc).

As for the media player, it's a great idea, but poorly executed. It doesn't show any information about the song that's playing. Also, what if one wants to hear track number 30? They would need to press skip 29 times!

I'm all for a Lisa Hannigan fansite. I love her! However, the site's got a lot of work to be done. Best of luck to you.

Seems the website went down like a lead balloon. I agree with most of the corrective points - it is early days, and the website was frown together in a matter of hours - I'll make the page download time quicker as soon as I get some better pictures in. I've just fixed the media player so you can go direct to named tracks. I've also included a menu on each page to save going back to the index page.

I can only design websites in flash, so that's the best I can offer at this time, but it's only a tribute - not an official website. I'm sure it will get better in time. If anyone has any information or any other content to add to the website I'd really appreciate it. I'm struggling in getting stuff together to make it more concise.

I really like the site, Boxer!

There were quite a few songs mixed in there that I've never heard before. Some are seemingly covers (the last leaf) and some appear to be collabortaions (don't f*ck with us, sideways down, lay us down).

Don't know about all of the cover/collaboration titles but the song you have down as "Oh, Lord" is entitled "Mercedes Benz" and was first sung by Janis Joplin. The one you have down as "Uncle Tom Thumb's Blues" is " Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" by Bob Dylan.

I really like the website. The one thing I was going to suggest when I first saw it was to put the menu on each page which you did!
And I don't see why Lisa Hannigan doesn't need her own website at this stage of her career. Alot of people really like her and respect her as her own artist - she doesn't always only have to be appreciated because of what she does with Damien. She is an incredibly talented woman in her own rite.
