No way -rootless tree is one of my favourites. I wouldnt say delicate is one of his worst, its just one that i'd shy away from. dunno why... there is crapper songs like grey room, childish,...but like the kind of weaker songs out of them comes a cohesion and an understanding of damiens writings and i findtaht reall interesting. toffee pop someone mentioned... that is truely awesome! |

hmmmm, dont like lonely soldier that much, but now that i know its for a movie, it might make more sense, i just dont really like the lyrics and i think the chorus sounds a wee bit like the chorus of grey room. aside from that i hate rule no 2, whoever said about the lyrics was right. if i had to choose from 'O' id pick older chests or maybe amie *shields herself* i just never got as attached to them as the others

Iadore Grey Roombut I disagree, Ithink it's one of his most emotional songs: starting out internally wallowing in isolationuntil it explodes thrillingly as he finds the will to carry on alone.Rule no 2. is another of my favorites and perhaps his most underrated, imo. "Weatherman" and "Moody Mooday" I really don't care for very much. Plus I've heard the live version of MM and thought it was pretty identical to the studio version so I don't know why jeweller is so against it. |

weatherman is not that interesting to me either - but that's a juniper song! to me, most songs/versions of songs from that period are not damien standard at all. he has certainly grown since then!

my only problem with childish and groovin' are that they really don't sound so much like HIM.. i'm not against varying sounds, but they're really REALLY lighthearted... no? then, i've just gotten a bit tired of the usual Volcano, Delicate.. the ones that people who AREN'T fans have heard and might know. i don't understand some of the verse lyrics in toffee pop, but i totally support and defend this song because of its choruses.sobeautiful and expressive!

i really can't believe that we are discussing damo's worst song!!!
THey are all good, yes there are some weaker ones like moody monday e.t.c but they all have the damo style to them which makes them unique I'm so in to the music that once i hear a song with damo playing it i automatically like it, weired i know but true I can see why though people find Cheers Darlin hard to listen to because it has little melody in the music. Well in fact cheers darlin is in fact a very melodic song, do you ever hear the piano part at the end ?!? very melodic there. I really got in to cheers darlin from damo's milan show last november. The song lasts for 20 minutes and is so good. |

I think the problem we have found is that Damo has left the second album for too long and us hardcore fans need refreshing! |

Oh have to agreewith mestonf, i've been away for a month and people start talking about worst Damo song!!???? I knew people are dying to wait for his new album and get a bit bored with his old songs on their stereo over and over, I admitted I did moan about as soon as I know Damo re-release "Cannonball" again as a single, I knew we all fustrated. BUT This topic shouldn't appear on Damo fan forum at all as we all are Damo "die-hard" fan, right ?

i wish!!, im in the same gang as you, just into the 40's (post wise). and as for the "damo has no bad songs we love them all!!" people, well fair play to you. i wish i could be like that! (damn my critical nature) i started this thread not to find out the actual worst song per se, just to find out peoples opinions. Edited by: sonofelvis |

i haven't heard that live version, i would like to hear it. For me, i sometime skip this one because i don't share the same sentiment. if ever i do, it would be just a few seconds, who would be wallowing that kind of desperation for long while knowing that it isn't worthy? for the song itself, it's beautiful. and it's heartbreaking if he sings it seriously, the goofy version is better |

aw come on, of course we can also discuss our least fave damo songs! i didnt see anyone here saying that they hate damien rice and everything he stands for, we just all have songs we like less than others, and if we can't talk about that here, then where?? let's not have things we can and cannot utter here. free debate, y'all!

i dont really like "rule no. 2" (lyrics...), "groovin", or "childish" (both way too happy for my taste.). but if i had to pick one from 'O' it would be "older chests" (kinda boring)
but now that riona has started listing favourites as well i would have to say my favourite is "fool" or "delicate"

Fair enough to point out free debate, the purpose of forum is sharing opinion anyway.I just thought that "worst damo song" doesn't sound repsectable on what Damo had done, in fact its abit harshmaybe we should say "Weskest damo song"Anyway I don't like take on anyone either. For me to be honest, theres no weak songs, "O" still the album that worth to be on my record collection. Most of the songs that aren't in the album are good anyway, i didn't get blower daughter part 2 at first but it grows on me more once i get the lyrics.Edited by: brokenheart

Ya know, i dont really like the proffessor, and i dont know why.Cheers darlin, is a fantastic song, but i just dont really like theblues vibe, it evades me. The monotony of cheers darlin, which can be done so well,e.g. marylin manson-Nobodies(acoustic), and in, my opinion, so badly,e.g. eurythmics-sweet dreams...,doesnt haveenough going for it,i think, for the kind of song it is. Heh, u cant please all of the people, all of the time!

i think i'd have to say maybe bottom shelf, cause i never took the time to really listen to the lyrics, its only on my computer.. so yeah, thats about it i guess!

i'd have to say my least fav damo songs are volcano (i guess ive just heard it too much, but every once in awhile it really fits my mood, and i really get into it) and moody mooday (havent listened to it too much but its too repetitivefor me). cheers darlin' used to be one i skipped a lot, but now its one of my favs, the piano towards the end is just excellent. even though these are my least fav damo songs, compared to most of the other music out there they are still about 100 times greater than that crap. favs: i always play "i remember" and "eskimo" first when i listen to o. "amie" is spectacular also. "the professor" and "lonelily" also.
