Default Damien's music and memories

Anyone else feel like they are transported to ireland, with cobblestone narrow streets and cool grey weather when listening to this music? I get the feeling of being on the coast and near water.

Especially in this line:Papa went to other lands
And he found someone who understands
The ticking, and the western man's need to cry
He came back the other day, you know

I love this music because it reminds me of my childhood and when things were so simple and calm.

There is a longing in this music that is relaly unforgettable

Well, I get the "cobblestone narrow streets and cool grey weather" everyday...

It is stereotypical to refer to Ireland like that...But yes, it is like that

When "O" came out, I was back in Ireland visiting family, so I bought a copy and took it back to Thailand. I did a lot of repeat listening to Damien's songs in Thailand, so listening to "O" is always nostalgic for me.

Delicate - This song was the anthem of how I felt for a particular girl at the time, so every time I listen to the song it invokes a passionate response

Volcano - I use to jam with my friends to this song, so I always remember the laughs and the good times spent with friends who I haven't seen in years

Older Chests - I listened to this song a lot when we were moving from Thailand back to Ireland, so it brings me to tears...Boxes, empty houses, saying goodbye to friends

I Remember - After the aforementioned girl "metaphorically dushed me in the balls" I listened to this song non-stop.

Older Chests is the single best Damien Rice song lyrically, and i'm pretty sure it's my favourite. I'm completely with you cheguevara, it brings back so many memories of where i used to live as a child, and when i enjoyed every little part of life, with perfect friends, surroundings, and nothing to go wrong. Older Chests always remind me of that. Also, i feel like "Papa" - i sound just like him, searching for someone who understands and everything that is described about him, even the losing at the races too many times, although metaphotically.

So yeah, i agree, it has an incredibly powerful impact on me that no other song can inflict.
