piano vs. guitar versions
With 9 and especially with the 9 tour, it seems like Damien discovered and incorporated the piano into his songs. And for some of his sngs we know the guitar and also the piano version. So what do you prefer, guitar or piano??? Would like the piano to be more featured in forthcoming releases???
So we have 9 crimes, Piano: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOn5Eudj5tI Guitar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qfGi...eature=related Rootless Tree, Piano: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlnpe...eature=related Guitar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOIHuFMWZ7Q Accidental babies, Piano: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYS2NAZUDgU Guitar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnhCz...rom=PL&index=4 What this night is for, Piano: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11QNfmhfQRI Guitar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ihtJiXY6BY What do you reckon????? In truth, I do prefer the piano versions in all the comparisons, although all those guitar versions are good. And I would really hear some piano versions of songs like I Remember, Cold Water or The Blower’s Daughter… maybe next tour ☺

I'll always prefer the guitar versions, he can make such a great sound of his guitar, the guitar versions are much happier then the piano versions, and all of the first album made with guitar, what's make it to such a great album...
My favourite guitar performances: 9 Crimes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUR5G...=TL&playnext=1 another 9 Crimes version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPv4c...os=TR2DeP28ngw Cannonball http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJbz5...eature=related Older Chests http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ogVo...eature=related The Blower's Daughter into Creep http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYb39...eature=related

in most cases I´d go for the piano version, especially for accidental babies! do you remember the outro he used to do when he played it live? it was heartbreaking but incredibely beautiful!

and today I found an amazing guitar version of Rootless Tree in the sense that is very delicate and almost sounds like the piano version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOIHu...eature=related

First : Those songs are good on both piano and guitar. (stupid remark ? Ah,ah, sorry)
9 crimes fits it very well on piano. Maybe that's why it's on piano on he record. 9 crimes best performances have been on piano I think. Personal taste, maybe. Rootless tree on guitar faster, so the ambiance change a lot. I love them both on guitar and piano. But that rootless guitar intro, I like it so much, that's why I think I prefer it on guitar. Accidental babies. I prefer it on piano. It's natural, seems like it was writen for piano. Very beautiful on guitar too though. But I agree, the outro is flawless. And maybe because it's easier to make accidental babies on a piano than on a guitar, because the guitar get broke. *joking* What this night is for. I wasn't familiar with that song. I listen and watch both version. I prefer the piano version, but the guitar one is sh*t sound quality, so, maybe I have been influenced. LOL

Prefer piano for all but Rootless. That song has some of the most layered and complex guitar of anything Damo has ever written and so makes the three clunkily bashed repeatedly piano chords version pale for me. As one of the original Eskimo lamenters of the absence of the outro from "9" I must heartily agree with Ewwa and born that it's the most gorgeous, bestest thing ever.
