I'm so jealous. The DC show sold out before my dumbass friend Brian could get us tickets. I saw them in NYC in October. They were great!

No way will this one sell out, no ones heard of them over here so I'm trying to spread the word. E-mail bombardment of Tom Dunne might be in order.

OK loveless, I should have said "almost" no one, are you going to go?

I think the second album gets a release over her next month. I've heard parts of it, my friend has it.

Sounds completly not like what I'd expect from a band on Sub Pop.

I got Chutes too narrow on import in HMV on henry street today.

What was the review like? positive/negative? My folks bought 2 copies of the sindo today, much to my chagrin, I prefer the Tribune.

At least people are responding to shins threads now, last time I started one was when they were playing a bar in London with an entry fee of £6, a friend of mine and I was gonna fly over for it, I know someone that did.

oh right.. they must be expecting some sort of bigish crowd then. usually its only the smaller gigs where you buy tickets at the door. thanks for the info!

Well I read a thing in Q in january where they were heralded as one to watch for 2004. NME front cover next big thing status beckons. Hope not though.

i think it's about time thata "next big thing" is actually deserving of such a title. most next big things are utter sh*t and disappear soon after. the shins will go on. i just hope they remain on sub pop... Edited by: samuelle

Yeah, its sad when bands blow up and burn out quickly.

My wish for all bands that I like is this.

They make a good living out of what they do, they become popular but not huge, and when its over they're either secure financially or have learned enough to make a living as a producer or something like that.

I never want to see one of Bell X1 trying to sell me a Fridge in Curries 8 years from now.

well said.

fortunately, i don't think the talented and passionate musicians of the world ever fully remove themselves from music and would probably only be selling appliances in order to continue making music.
