PAL vs. NTSC
For those of you that are wondering what the difference is and can't be bothered to do a google search to educate yourself I will give you a quick run down in layman's terms. NTSC is basically 30 frames per second, while PAL is 25 frames per second. The other major difference is the number of horizontal lines that make up the image. Remember old school televisions scanned light across the tube in lines. NTSC is 480 lines while PAL is 576. Usually audio and video are on two separate tracks so is you try to convert from PAL to NTSC or vice versa you will offset the native timing of the audio to video and will have synch issues. A lot of people think that it is just the player, but it is also the television that needs to be in the corresponding format. So unless the player has a built in converter the picture will be unwatchable. For a more detailed explanation then do a google search....or read this webpage. http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Article.../PALvsNTSC.asp Last edited by vidiot; 08-17-2007 at 07:35 AM. |

I don't know what burning software people use, but with nero it will ask you what format, knowing you are in US region, it asks paraphrasing "this is in pal fromat, would you like to keep it pal, or make it ntsc" and i've never had a problem with audio/video being out of sync,
also to confirm, buying cheap/foreign dvd players work for playing both formats |

I know this is a very old thread but I just wanted to see if anyone was interested in downloading this dvd. If so, I can upload it to a fast server I have access to and create a torrent. Let me know if so.

there's a bunch of gigs at video google, which unlike youtube, does not have the 10 min limit so you can up very long videos... just do a search for Damien Rice and filter the results by length of the clip...

I think I have it. What you wanna do? I can try to re-seed it. perhaps we should compare collections and see what we can exchange? I have a host of bootlegs and a few DVDs. I even have the Abby Road DVD and The basement DVD being shipped to me. |

Steve, thanks a lot.. downloading with 2.6 Mbps.. in about 20 minutes it should be ready.. first time I download for somebody from Luxembourg with such speed.. usually it doesn't get higher than 10 kb/s thank you again.
p.s. I'll leave the torrent for seeding so if anyone else wants to download, you'll have 2 seeders with high upload speed |
