Cold, cold water surrounds me now....
Cold, cold water surrounds me now
And all I've got is your hand Lord, can you hear me now? Lord, can you hear me now? Lord, can you hear me now? Or am I lost? Sometimes it's more than just a love song lyric. Damien's words and music have helped me thru some rough nights Apply when necessary. Hold a hand. Thank you, Mr. Rice, what a tender heart. Last edited by mucker; 04-24-2007 at 04:32 AM. beautiful post. you have a gorgeous charisma...
damien's music is not just a bunch of notes and words. he puts all his heart and soul while singing/playing. it's raw and it's pure. nothing influences my life more than his music. it's totally engulfing. |

Listened to this song in the last few days, helped in so many ways, thanks Damien!
SLEEP, DON'T WEEP Sleep, don't weep, my sweet love Your face is all wet and your day was rough So do what you must do to find yourself Wear another shoe, paint my shelves Those times that I was broke, and you stood strong I think I found a place where I... Sleep, don't weep, my sweet love Your face it's all wet 'cause our days were rough So do what you must do to fill that hole Wear another shoe to comfort the soul Those times that I was broke, and you stood strong I think I found a place where I feel I will... Sleep, don't weep, my sweet love My face it's all wet 'cause my day was rough So do what you must do to find yourself Wear another shoe, paint my shelves Those times that I was broke, and you stood strong I hope I find a place where I feel I belong Sleep, don't weep, my sweet love My face is all wet 'cause my day was rough

Upon reading this, I scarcely needed to look at who wrote it, for the nonsense gave you away from the start. Your inability to write anything at all relevant is getting really annoying. If I was Damien, I would truly be creeped out with this level of obsession. Damien Rice is not a saviour, so stop putting him on such a tremendous pedestal. p.s. You do not seem profound. You seem high. |

i get the feeling your not a fan of mucker lauren... :P
hes changing it up, give him some credit, its not nonsense, some of the things that come from his posts would feel at home in a well written poem, i find it refreshing, theres no need to be on the attack just because of a different approach to this forum

It seems so natural when it's on the Telly. That's the way broadcasters are. They are official, cool, cold. They report it the same way they report currency rates, or the death of a playboy bunny, or the carnaval in Brazil. You can barely see a difference.
But when you really listen, when you think it over, you go outside for a smoke and you know: It's not natural. For a father to bury his son, for a holocaust survivor to be shot, for someone to take someone else's life. It's just not. None of this makes sense to me. I think, none of this makes sense to most people. It's so out of place. Imagine you were walking into a classroom, you open the door and there's a pub in there. You'd be shocked. It'll make no sense. A gunman in a university, a plane crashing into the WTC, they make even less sense. We don't understand them. We're shocked. It's just like being thrown into cold water, that surrounds you. The shock, the lack of direction, the overwhelming experience. And you turn to your one source of hope - can you hear me? And when no answer comes, you ask again. And again. That's when you start doubting - Am I lost? Good poetry is blurry when everything's sharp. Maybe it's also sharper when everything's blurry. I don't know if that's what mucker had in mind. That's what I read to it. And when you think about it that way, it wasn't nonesense, not even a bit. Oh, and hi everyone. |

I want to join those that thank you mucker for your graceful words - I find those of the heretic (lauren?) as the offensive ones - it is clear that you gal are in the minority and obviosuly have issues not only with mucker but also with God. Well - for someone who lost one of his very best friends on Sept 11 and has been a first hand witness to the chaos caused in the lives of his daughter and wife I ask that you blow off.
I have been thinking about these words all day and the first thing I did when I got home was listen to my various tracks of the song and cried. In case you haven't noticed Lauren but there are many on this site who are "obsessed" if that is what you want to call it - I call it we are all witnesses and admirers to the the genius damo brings to music and to our emotions. Mucker - I have seen your words before and implore you to pay attention to those that admire your style and courage for going out there on this site - not the words of someone who has an ax to grind for some reason or the other. there's no need to take quite such a nasty tone, Lauren.
Whether it's relevant or not relevant (I'm on the bench) it's not like he's doing anyone any harm anyone by posting this kind of stuff.

Exactly, Nine! In fact, it seems to be doing the exact opposite in most cases
I think alot of times, especially on forums such as this, it takes someone like Mucker there to bring people together and talk more honestly and openly..this is a good thing. David, you post was so touching. I think..to be obsessed with music..and most especially Damien Rice music is good for the soul. Well, i know it's good for mine. |

Heretic, it's obvious you have no clear sense of where you are at the moment so do us all a favour and refrain from cornering a kind soul. Mucker has never expressed any kind of resentment towards you and it has been YOU this entire time throwing the punches. Whether you believe he is high or whatever, it's more than clear what his message is and no one can argue with that. We all know that you've had some new-found-religious-upheavel and that's fine, but don't play a character you'll later regret.

just wanted to say thank you for those thoughtful words and what the lyrics meant to you, and i think nemo (at least for me) you got it right for the meaning of the lyrics, and lyrics are hollow unless we can relate them to a personal situation where we've suffered, experienced, grown, growth through hardship, tears ect, i do belive God uses that
and that made me remember my 9/11 experience, i was in the navy, had been at sea 9 months, training troops, doing missions for a war i didn't see yet, and was 3 days away from the coast of California and a trip home, and then everyone started recieving emails, conflicted reports of bombings, highjackings ect, and everyone was worried and the CO turned off the net and the phones and we waited for word, and then our ship turned and we headed to N.Y. to try and help out, a very terrible time indeed |

timee you would agree with anything lauren says
its not poetry, his posts arent poems, but they are written in a way that could be percieved as poems, and i like it, if it was crap then id be on the same page as lauren, cause it would seem someone is just trying to be different and failing, but the things in his posts genuinly refresh me, as if i am reading a good poem. he isnt causing any harm, the reason we are surprised at lauren is because of the fact that she is trying to, where as mucker didnt do anything to her. and it would seem lauren is trying to start a fight with no reason, which to me is out of her charactor
