In the course of one of our regular drunken laments that Radiohead aren't playing anywhere this summer, myself and my good friend got into a deep and heated debate-Just what is the best Radiohead album? I shall open this to the floor with 2 conditions upon answering

1. You must state the album and give at least 2 reasons why it's better than the rest

2. Answers containing the following words will result in an automatic disqualification- "Pablo Honey coz Creep is class!"

Begin..

Ok Computer, because it is one of the saddest albums I know, the atmosphere pulls me down everytime I listen to it.

(Hope that counts as an answer.)

I guess my reply does not qualify, but I will post it anyway. I am having a REALLY hard time deciding what Radiohead album I find the best. I like the era from OK Computer to present day better than the pre OK Computer period. I guess I will have to go for Amnesiac as my favourite Radiohead album (because Pyramid Song is their best song ever). But one song does not alone make an album. Even though Amnesiac might be my favourite, I would have to say that both OK Computer and Kid A are better albums. It is a strange thing. I have always had problems with this one... But it is a good topic!

Edit: Did I mention how much I love Hail To The Thief? Edited by: Magnus

I keep changing my mind over this one it usually floats through all the albums from ok computer onwards. I have to say that i probably listen to HTTT more often than the others atm, this however is probably just because i was waiting for it for so long. However Kid A contains some of my favourite individual songs, and i actually think that Amnesiac is more of an album and i am more likely to listen to every song all the way through on that album. If i want to listen to some radiohead i'll probably listen to ok computer or httt however if i'm actually going to sit down and listen to an album it's more likely to be Kid A or Amnesiac.

So on that basis (if that made any sense) I'm going to choose Kid A for the following reasons.

1. it has some of their best individual tracks
2. It is one of their musically most original albums (along with amnesiac)

it's a tough question i'll change my mind tommorow

i would have to say amnesiac. it is perfectly put together and the songs are just works of art.

Kinda ironic that Amnesiac is the stuff that wasn't quite clever enough to get on to Kid A..

Could I say Pablo Honey because Lurgee, Thinking about you, I can't and Creep are class?

It Ok Computer for me. Its just such an amazingly original album sonically, with brilliant songs and thematically it echoes a lot of my views on humanity and the wider world.

OK computer....cos it has the line 'idiot, slow down' in it, which you dont get anywhere else as far as i can tell, and 'ina fast german car, i'm amazed that I survived an airbag saved my life'....seminal moments in popular culture if you ask my humble opinion! so thats the 2 reasons!

god this is hard because through the years they've come out with such incredible music that has varied in sound so much...

if i could pick two i'd say ok computer and hail to the theif... i know hail to the theif is their latest and blah blah blah, but i think some of the tracks on their are absolutely some of their best... but if i could only pick one it would be ok computer because it started their revolution of sound and it seems to be where they are most comfortable and experimental at the same time...

ps -great freakintopic

its true that it is probably their easily album to "get into" but i think it is just overall the best album - the lyrics are class and i just feel more coming from them in that album.

I've been thinking about this for a few days, and I've come to the conclusion that I don't have a favorite Radiohead album, they're all great, I just listen to them at different times and when I'm in different moods.
