yeah, checkthem out - you can listen to all the songs on their latest album 'No Time Wasted'onlineattheir website- also some pictures of a nice looking rural recording session there :-) i can really recommend songs like: stranger half a man river mercy every word come to me honest (trying to be a man) catch me if i fall LOVELY laid-back singer-songwriter/alt. country/blues/folk-rock ...and then they're norwegian, like our fab Magnus - can't be bad, can it? (edit: just realised jim stärk isn't one guy's name, but a band name! after listening to their music for about ½ year - jeez! apparently they're named after james dean's character in 'rebell without a cause')Edited by: supercille

While we're at this Norwegian bands topic... For those who haven't heard him, check out Magnet. His two albums Quiet & Still and On Your Side are great. Other than that, there are of course a lot of other great Norwegian acts, but I am not gonna spam away here as most countries have awesome bands. But Magnet is great! yeah- some norweagen music! I love thomas dybdahl! or.. i like his work, but not the man, have seen a couple of gigs, and i once spoke to him after one, he is SO arrogant. He seems arrogant on the stage too by the way! - but the music is nice! |

yeah, went to a dybdahl gig a couple of weeks ago - didn't rock my boat exactly, but it was alright. good songs and he sings alright too, but... hm.. a month before that i experienced damien who made me weep and left me with this incredible feeling, and nothingh like that happened to me after thomas' gig. it's like he's only playing on one or 2 strings while damien plays a full harp... ok, bad image, but all i could come up with... hope you know what i mean. nice voice he has, though, TD. he should just maybe challenge himself a little more... i dunno... have heard him being called 'the Jeff Buckley of Stavanger' and i can kinda see why, but still i think that's taking it a little far...

Yeah. Thomas Dybdahl is okay. But in my opinion not much more than just that.Comparing TD to Jeff Buckley is just ridiculous! He's not even anywhere near Jeff when it comes to.. well.. anything.

oh yeah, just saw that - and clapped my little hands. well, i do think there has been SOME improvements with the last 100 names they've added. think i'm gonna see dybdahl, bowie, tim christensen, bergman rock, ben harper, gnawa diffusion, teitur,i am kloot, JOMI MASSAGE!!!, Kings of leon, kira & kindred spirits, laakso, santana, noxagt (another quite cool bunch'a norwegians!), puppetmastaz (c'mon! rap+with puppets! - gotta see that!), saybia, jesse sykes!, traening, tiger tunes, under byen and mayyybe morrissey, (just to see what all the fuss is about) and then you know: this and that artist you pass by on your way somewhere else and suddenly fall in love with... oh wow, before i made that list i thought: there's hardly anything i wanna see this yeah - now i really look forward to roskilde! there's plenty for me to see. i would have liked there to be more of the singer/songwriter-stuff i love (like josh ritter, damien, cat power, etc etc) but i guess you can't have it all.. what do you think of the band list, Heidi?

but he seems to sort of close the window that's open in drake's pic, eh? bet you could do some deep freudo-musical analysis from that... edit: arrgh, keep forgettin: it's THEM, not him. it's the whole band that's called j s. inspired by a james dean part. *sigh* hard to get into my thick skull, apparentlyEdited by: supercille
