Smile Dublin Summer 2005

Me and a mate are hoping to fly out to Dublin in the summer for a long weekend and was hoping to stay in a Hostel in a dorm for like £10 a night but I was informed to stay in hostels you may need a pass or hostel card, does anyone know anything about this? We also want to busk in Dublin does anyone know what the rules and laws are on this?

You don't need a hostel card.

Pick a street and open your guitar case.

there are quite a few buskers in dublin...

temple bar square is a good place to busk as well as grafton street... the only thing that might happen is the police ask you to move on... usually they dont though

http://www.hosteldublin.com/ - try that for hostels...

where to begin...

Temple Bar is a very cool area of Dublin. It's mainly based around a central square but there's lots more. Its right in the centre of town and has lots of pubs/cafes where music is played all the time and the banter is great! Jeez i sound like such an ad. Nah its just a really nice place, the temple bar music centre is pretty cool for gigs, most nights they have them on. Eamon Dorans is more fun (i think) and they have music...the ha'penny Inn do open mic sessions too..they are all in the vicinity of temple bar.

Whelan's up on wexford st is great craic for music - bit of a trek from temple bar..but when ya have a few pints on ya, its all good!!

Wow You Dubliners really know how to a help people out. Some of that sounds great. I hope to play afew open mic sessions and then go onto a club and sleep in a hostel for a very extended weekend. How are the open mic sessions in Dublin, do they get alot of people ?

Relax, it's just a little bit of teasing.
