^ So sorry for you and your friend and family. May you all be at peace with the decisions that are made. That's great that you are together to support each other.

Sometimes, I wish I could turn back the clock. Yeah hey, but that's life - there's no "take two".

i think that would be a really good idea verenita, you seem to have a real passion for ireland, which i must admit the majority of us irish eskimos do not share - you should come over and teach us a thing or two about our own country! if it's where you want to be then you just have to get here!

you'd be surprised orangejasmine, sometimes life can be cyclical instead of linear - opportunities can sometimes come around again. i hope they do for you

and srahman, i hope everything turns out okay for you..

Wow, Livo!!!! What a wonderful bit of commentary to read; such wise words! Thank you!

I'm really touched by that.

yes, i have. i don´t know exactly when nor how it started. all that i know is that it grows and grows and such thing is the first one on my "things i want to do next" list
i´m not sure if i could teach you anything, but sometimes (or most of the time, i better say) it´s so easy to take some things for granted. it´s not just you irish people, you know? here´s my advice. take a look to this site ¨(i got goosebumps everytime i watch it) and try to take a step back: it´s so easy to see the beauty of ireland and how cool and friendly are you, irish lovely ones
(oops, sorry for my rambling...)

srahman, I am so sorry about your friend. I hope everyone finds peace with whatever decision is made.

Ethan threw up a couple of times last night. No fever or anything so hopefully it will be short-lived.

Thanks for all the warm wishes, everyone. They were much appreciated. to all

Turns out, the decision wasn't in their hands after all. Attended the funeral today and it's.. all still so bizarre. Can't believe this all happened in the span of 10 days.

^ Hope Ethan feels better. Chicken soup (and chocolate) always used to help my mom tame me when I was sick

What got me down today is ironically the fact that I'm trying really hard not to feel bad about where I am in my life right now.

However, I'm trying to keep Livo's comforting words of advise in mind from a couple of posts ago.

Can I get in on this group hug business too? Exams are coming up, and I'm about ready to bang my head against a wall. Whoever had the bright idea to make ALL my exams worth 100% of my final grades needs to hanged, drawn and quartered.

Tell me about it... I now actively hate professional football due to these kinds of things (ever since the Italy vs. Australia incident). I can't name any other sport where blatant cheating by the big teams is so frequently used against the smaller ones without any repercussions, and of course even the slightest mistake on the small teams' side is severely penalised.

Yeah, I feel your plight, hey! I've also started with exam preparation.

But wow! That is unreasonable! If I may ask, who is in charge of making such a decision? The lecturer for your courses???

I mean, surely there should be some sort of rule or guideline that takes your progress throughout the year into account? What happens to a student who has a bad exam on the day, but has an excellent class record throughout the year for tutorials, assignments, projects, class tests, etc.? Would such a student get the opportunity to retry the exam or do they outright fail?

you´re so right, rai. the saddest part is i realized that it would have been the same thing for argentina (great "football products" for the world cup). shame on us.
most popular sport newspaper in argentina today:
