hello,

i've been working on the creation of a dvd VINE.
what's that you ask... well, if you want more damo
shows, have a slow speed connection to the internet
and have a dvd drive on your computer, please keep
reading.

Q: What is a vine, and how does it work?

A: A vine is a list of people who sign up to receive a
show or several shows, stored on a dvd in SHN
format, through the postal mail. Vines enable people
to collect live music, regardless of the type of internet
connection they have. A single copy of the dvd travels
the length of the itinerary, with each participant
copying the disc or uploading it to your hard drive
and then forwarding the dvd to the next person on the
vine. When the vine reaches the last participant on
the list, that participant returns the discs to the
person who created the vine, the seed.

this is an example of what a vine list might look like:

seed: chris - cph143@hotmail.com - kansas city, mo
usa
1. john - beatle1@hotmail.com - england
2. paul - beatle2@hotmail.com - england
3. ringo - beatle3@hotmail.com - england
4. george - beatle5@hotmail.com - england
5. jimi - purplehaze@hotmail.com - england
end vine: mail back to chris - cph143@hotmail.com

a very basic walk through:
- john emails me his address.
- i send the dvd to john.
- john uploads the info or burns a copy of the dvd.
- john emails paul and gets his address and tells
him the dvd is headed his way.
- john mails the dvd to paul once paul gives john his
address.
- paul gets the dvd and continues the vine
... and on and on

i hope this makes sense. i will be starting a vine very
soon. i will probably start one here in the states and
another in europe somewhere.

i'm not sure about this. up until yesterday i never had a pc or a dvd writer. today i have both, but i'm having to relearn everything from my many years on a mac. it's going to take me a couple days i believe.

and as for, does all that fit on one disc, it's 3.78 gigs of files. dvd's can hold almost 4.7 gigs.
