Default 'Things I have loved i'm allowed to keep...' -- Regina Spektor :)

... I barely recently started listening to Regina Spektor and have fallen in luv with her!! ... especially her live performances!!! she sounds really good and so funny

So was wondering what you lovely eskimos thought about her??? And if any of you love her and have any suggestions on what songs to look for and such, it'd be muchly appreciated!

Here are some vids i haven't been able to stop watching on youtube!!

I adore Regina Spektor. I saw her live last year and she is just as charming and bubbly on stage as she is during her songs.

she's a brilliant songwriter. I don't like her latest album so much, but songs and soviet kitsch are great albums. SO many brilliant songs in there. I love playing and singing Samson and learning from how she built up the song.

Oh, I only have Begin To Hope but from what you say I definitely should try the older ones!! I already love the new one, can't wait to discover even better songs by her
Thanks for reminding me of that, lately so many people gave me advice on good music that I got kind of overdosed so I didn't have time to investigate some stuff that I really liked.. Regina surely is one of them!
And thanks for the vids, she has such an interesting aura around her, can't really say what it is (what she does with her eyes and eyebrows just makes me want to hug my monitor)..

Greets,
Kil

PS.: Cille, you cover Samson?! I would kill to hear that

I prefer the earlier, officially unreleased, albums 11:11 and Songs. Both Soviet Kitsch and Begin To Hope are somewhat overproduced, especially the last album. Regina is best when it's just her and the piano. It also gives more room to her vocal abilities and improvs. Samson is an old song from the Songs album and it sounds much better in its original version.

I dunno if anybody is interested but i was browsing the net and found that the russian part of 'Apres Moi' is actually a poem by Boris Leonidovich and it goes something like this...

{original in Russian...}
Fevrale dostat chernil i plakat,
Pisat O Fevrale navsnryd,
Poka grohochushaya slyakot
Vesnoyu charnoyu gorit.

{Translation i found! :S dunno if its any good...Sounds very beautiful anyways .... }
February, take out the inks and weep,
Write about February on my moans,
But right now, thundering sleet,
In the black Spring it burns...
