The Rachael Yamagata thread
Has anyone heard this song before?? It's a duet between Ray Lamontagne and some US female singer named Rachael Yamagata and it's called DUET. I heard it the other day during Brothers & Sisters and loved immediately!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTrrNuco38o Cannot find any info about the song. Anyone? By the way, don't miss B&S tonite cos they're playing Lisa's Pistachio!!!

this is amazing, thank you soooo much for sharing!!!
I love both their voices. This song seems to belong to a movie soundtrack or am I wrong? Anyone knows something about it? |

From my research it seems that it is from the Rachel Yamagata album Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart. Its not from a movie soundtrack, I think the youtube uploader just made a fan-soundtrack of a coming film.

I saw Rachel Yamagata open for Ryan Adams some years back. I have her album, but I can't think of the name at the moment. She's good. And that was a beautiful duet.

<333! thanks for sharing that, i haven't heard that one before!
I've always loved Rachael Yamagata's voice since i heard "Collide" and "Reason Why" like, 5 years ago or something... Anyways, she sounded really good with Ray! <33 (If you clicked the links above and listened to them, here's the album version of "Reason Why" with lyrics... It's practically identical to her live performance i linked... I absolutely love that live performance though, i'll be making the duet one and the live rason why mp3's soon )

If you liked Rachel's first album, you'll love her new album - one of the best albums of 2008 for sure, especially the elephants part.

So, here's the mp3 of the live performance of "Reason Why" if anyone wants it... Duets you can find on her album "Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart", so i won't be making that into an mp3 :P
Rachael Yamagata - Reason Why (Live) I've been addicted to Reason Why for a long time, and i just love that live performance anywho! Cheers! <3

Anything from 'Elephants...', really (the first part of her double album) - such a beautiful album. Her deep soothing voice really comes to life on that album.

I wouldn't say so, no.. To me it sounds a bit like Fiona Apple Light. Not bad, but definately not my fave of hers.

^^ I don't have her second one, only the first. It's good and listenable. But no, I would not run out and buy it. I agree with Cille's Finona Apple light comment(with less angst).

while looking for something completely different at a Tori Amos forum, found this entry from 2004 about Rachael Yamagata:
"somehow shes different for me. i think her voice is what captivates me the most. her lyrics are right up my alley and her presence on stage just blows me away. shes opened for damien rice, gomez and is currently on tour with liz phair. theres only a six song EP available, but a full length album is due sometime in april. i defintely recommend seeing her live. definitely." so according to this person she did open for Damien back in the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did order the album, but I already downloaded it for the waiting and love it love it love it. What an amazing album! Duet, Elephants, Over and Over... all amazing... still not into the last (rockier) songs of the album, prefer the slow ones...
so album 1 is more like the last bit of album 2??
