Hmm... I actually hate it when artists repackage recently-released CDs as "special editions". Why not just put the new stuff out as a separate EP instead of making people pay for a CD they already own?

Definitely excited for a new album next year though!

I hate re-packaged albums too, it's a total rip-off x fans who bought the album in the first place... and lately many artists do the Special Edition, then later the Deluxe Special Edition, then later the Deluxe Deluxe Special Edition... Ka-ching...

Actually, how many times was O re-packaged?? Millions

And then, many years down the road, as Lisa becomes more prolific and releases more and more, we'll start seeing anniversary boxed sets of all of her albums. "The masterpiece debut by Lisa Hannigan, specially packaged in a 2 CD, 1 DVD set featuring exclusive liner notes."

Or perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself...

If the music stays at the level of Sea Sew, and especially if it continues to improve (which it will), then I'll keep buying. Even at this point I've already purchased the album once on twice on CD and vinyl each.

lisa on derry journal today.

a few words about damien (and glen):
Quote:
Lisa says she’s learned from both Damien Rice and Glen Hansard.

“But they are both very private when it comes to the songwriting process. It was nerve-wracking moving up front on my own but you just have to get on with it.

AUERBACH, DAN - KEEP IT HID

in february of this year i was playing in grimey’s in nashville -a great independent record shop not unlike this one. a very charming man came up to me afterwards and told me that his son had just brought out his own record and he thought i’d like it. as i was packing up my stuff he handed me “keep it hid”.
thanks mr. auerbach.
his son is one half of the black keys, singer/ guitarist dan auerbach and this is his first solo record. it is dusty and creaky and dirty and thirsty and i think you should buy it.
some songs like “i want some more”, “heartbroken in disrepair” and “the prowl” are in the same vein as the black keys, bluesy, grimy and brilliant. others are gentler and beautiful in their fragility and i am so glad that i don’t have to write about music for a living because it’s really difficult to not sound lame and i do apologise.
i think “when the night comes” is my song of the year.
this record is a million times better than i will be able to make it sound written down.
and he’s got a great beard, unrelated, but still.

Excellent, thanks! There's a certain quality to her voice there that I haven't heard before in any other song. Can't quite place what it is.

As for the deluxe Sea Sew they mentioned... hopefully the live songs are in DVD form, not CD. What would be the point in buying Fingerprints and this, then?

^What's the point of buying an album you already own?

Oh, and the next person going to a Lisa gig simply HAS to ask her to cover Bohemian Rhapsody.

Thanks for posting, this is really a beautiful version!

Actually, I was so blown away by Lisa's recent performances that I uploaded the mp3 of this performance as well as of Lisa's acoustic version of "Lille" here:

http://www.4shared.com/dir/10716713/...a5/Upload.html

I figured that it would be ok to upload those songs as they have been released already, albeit not the acoustic versions, but if somebody's not fine with that just let me know and I'll take them off the web again.

She's working with Herbie Hancock again!

Quote:
Herbie Hancock's "The Imagine Project", the new CD from multiple Grammy-winning artist and musical pioneer Herbie Hancock, is an unprecedented international recording and film project featuring collaborations between music legend Herbie Hancock and over a dozen superstars from every region of the planet. Utilizing the universal language of music to express its central themes of peace and global responsibility, the musical collaborations combine Hancock's genre-defying musical vision with the "local" musical identity of cultures from around the world. Additionally, noted Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney ("Taxi To The Dark Side") is serving as one of the film's producers with veteran music producer Larry Klein serving as one of the album's producing consultants. "The Imagine Project" is set for release June 22, 2010 via Hancock Records/RED.

Tracks include "The Song Goes On" with Anoushka Shankar (sitarist daughter of Ravi Shankar), Chaka Khan and Wayne Shorter which was recorded in Mumbai, India, along with a stellar group of Indian musicians; "Don't Give Up," a duet with guitarist extraordinaire Jeff Beck recorded in London featuring Seal and Pink, "Imagine" with Konono No. l, Jeff Beck, Oumou Sangare and Lionel Louke recorded in Paris and London; "Tamatant Tilay/Exodus" featuring Tinariwen, "Times They Are A Changin'" featuring The Chieftains, Lionel Loueke and Lisa Hannigan recorded in Ireland; "Jackpot" with Dave Matthews and Marcus Miller, "Space Captain" with Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, "Mi Tierra" recorded with Latin superstar Juanes in Miami and a track with Brazilian singer-songwriter Céu recorded in São Paulo.

"Music truly is the universal language," says Hancock, "The Imagine Project" will explore that concept across the globe, uniting a myriad of cultures through song and positive creative expression. My hope is that the music will serve as a metaphor for the actions taken by the inhabitants of this wonderful planet as a call for world harmony on all levels."

A global musing on the power of song to bring people together, the recordings for Herbie Hancock's "The Imagine Project" have taken place in each collaborator's home territory whenever possible, and embody the spirit, hearts, sounds, colors and flavor of each locale – a complete sensory musical experience. The result is an album/film without borders, both a celebration and a call to action.

I seriously have no idea how Lisa, The Chieftains and The Times They are A-Changing can be combined into something that is not super-weird.

If I remember correctly, last time she was on Carson Daly David Arquette was there as well so it might be a rerun. If I'm wrong I'd be a little disappointed as there's no info about it (and neither about the Other Voices performance, if that one's not just a rerun) on her webpage...

Thank God there is this forum!

Lisa singing Passenger on Other Voices :

And even if it makes me seem nosy, I'd really like to know who she meant when she said that the song is about having somebody on your mind all the time... :P

And two videos of Our Little Secrets supporting Lisa at Vicar Street last December:

(you can see Lisa for a short moment at the beginning of the video, as well as Cillian Murphy *drool*)

Enjoy!
