Damien Rice, July 7, 2006, Austin, TX
I stumbled on this forum while trying to find out if there was any interest in live Damien Rice recordings. I was at this show and got a pretty nice recording of it. I was standing in the midst of a crowd of mostly young people, most of whom were there for Fiona Apple. Still, the DR show was very well received. The recording is clean and clear, but unfortunately marred by the Austin curse: a restless, chatty crowd and the seemingly ubiquitous screamers.
I would love to share the recording with the fans, but I'm not sure if I should start a torrent or mail out a couple of copies that can then be further shared. What's the consensus? Here are the details: Damien Rice July 7, 2006 The Backyard Austin, TX Damien Rice - Vocals, guitar, keyboards, loops Vyvienne Long - Cello, keyboards Shane Fitzsimons - Bass Earl Harvin - Drums 01 The Professor 02 Delicate 03 Accidental Babies 04 Woman Like A Man 05 Volcano 06 so i grew up in a place called ireland.... 07 Me, My Yoke And I 08 The Blower's Daughter (with Creep verse) 09 so once upon a time there was this man.... 10 Cheers Darlin' 11 thanks to Fiona and all her people.... 12 I Remember Taper: JAS Source: Core Sound High End Binaural microphones > Battery Box (Bass filter off) > iRiver iHP-120 (44.1 KHz, 16 bit wav files) > USB 2.0 > Hitachi SATA HD Editing: Cool Edit 2000 > wav > CD Wave (tracking) > wav Location: Dead center, about 30 feet from stage THIS IS A BINAURAL RECORDING; FOR BEST SOUND LISTEN WITH HEADPHONES. this link gives some insight as to what the taping / trading policy might be when it's been formulated. this is probably the reason why there are only two shows available on www.archive.org. there appears to be no current policy statements on any of the official sites to either corroborate this or niot there have been other torrents on pure live gigs as wel as the hub for spreading the gospel electronically as well as by more conventional means. it just may be a question of moral attitude as to which way to go. personally, i prefer to keep the post office in business and send stuff by snailmail which is much more fun but then again i remember the days when there were 240 pennies to a pound.

I say torrent, just because I live outside the u.s. and it might cost much and take a long time for us non-americans.

Thanks, netheredgeman, for the link to archive.org. I'm not sure why I didn't think of checking there myself. After reading their nascent policy, I think the best thing to do is old-fashioned snail-mail trading. A few of the songs on the recording are not on their "allowed" list for that site, which means the band probably wouldn't want them torrented either.
So I'll take three respondents from this board, one from the US, one from Ireland or UK, and one from the Continent to whom I will send a copy of the show. Each of the recipients should then offer up 2 or 3 additional copies to the group. Contact me at the email address below with your name and mailing address. Please indicate your willingness to pass along a couple of copies and indicate it is the Damien Rice show you're interested in (I'm doing the same for David Garza and Fiona Apple). jas@texasyesfan.com |

free music?
If someone could hook me up with Damien live shows that would be fantastic. I would gladly spread the Damien goodness around Kansas City by making copies of the copies.

Will the show be seeded as well, or just mailed? I'm an impatient girl. Thank you so much for bringing this over - I really wanted to be at this show, but was unable to attend!

TOrrents are definitely easier - but I have recently mailed out a few hard copies of the Palladium gig and do quite like the community feel of it!

I have mailed out four copies of this show, two to the US, one to England, and one to Italy. Each of those individuals should be offering up additional copies within the next few days. So, hold on to your horses; everyone should eventually be able to get a copy. I am torrenting the Fiona Apple show, if anyone is interested in that. http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...ad.php?t=23930 |
