Default Live Union Chapel officially released 26 Nov

The Live at the Union Chapel CD is getting an official release in the UK on Nov 26!!!!!!! It's on all the official release schedules!!!!!!!

(source: haven forum)

Not sure about the US, but i'd say it might have been already been released. I found a copy in my local indie (crappy) record store...

i thought it was already officially released years ago, but was just out of print for awhile? i think you've been able to order it from the shop at damien's official site for awhile now, too.

that's cool it's been reissued though, because i never was able to get one the last time around

the first batch was distribuited via bmg because some executive liked damien and decided to issue and give the cd away for free to all bmgmusic members. he probably got fired afterwards

i did notice that, yes. i may order it straight from there, along with a replacement for my O CD (which was beat to death through constant playing and then lost) i wish he would offer some of those in the limited edition with the linen cover again..

from the news section on the official site:

Live from the Union Chapel CD - 01 Nov 2007
The Damien Rice 'Live at Union Chapel' album, recorded in the UK back in 2003 will be available to purchase shortly in Ireland, the UK and the USA. Further details to follow shortly.

the price on the official site is $19.09 USD, what's it going for in the shops?

i don't believe it's the whole show (wasn't the professor in there too?) but here's the tracklisting:

live at union chapel
1. delicate
2. the blower's daughter
3. volcano
4. then go
5. baby sister
6. be my husband
7. amie
8. silent night

Release info
Live at Union Chapel is an official Damien Rice record, but it has never been commercially released. It was a limited promotion in connection with Be Music in the US.

it would be great if they released a full concert DVD of this performance, there used to clips up on dr.com but they aren't there anymore..

The UK release is Nov 26, wide release, in stores and all. I just checked amazon.co.uk and they have it too.

But I'd say it's already out in the US. My local indie store has it for 12 bucks and they've never ever had it before...

Childish and Cannonball were also on the show. You can find them on the Live CD that was given away by the Sunday Telegraph back in 2004.

I'm disappointed The Professor isn't on the record. That video on YouTube is awesome. Not just when he smiles at Vivienne, but when he makes the smoking reference and Lisa laughs, or when he does the Bob Dylan impression, or when the crowd is on their feet cheering. The whole thing is brilliant.

Here's another glowing review from Room Thirteen:

Despite being recorded in 2003, Damien Rice's first live album 'Live From The Union' has only just emerged, providing a rare treat for fans. As well as some of the classic Rice tracks, which made the singer's name, there are three never before recorded tracks and a haunting performance of 'Silent Night' from Lisa Hannigan.

The performances are as impassioned and magical as ever, from the careening, 'Volcano', the wistful, 'Blower's Daughter' and the soft, dreamy, 'Amie' with its climactic and emotive chorus, to the previously unheard tracks. 'Then Go', an aching and smoky number with vocals led by Hannigan is a slow-building maze of deep reverberating cello and entwining vocals. 'Baby Sister' is a delicate duet with the third voice of a violin rubbing against Rice's raw voice in his delight howls. The third tune has a more soulful feel with Hannigan's sweet lilt shimmying over abstract percussive beats.

It feels somewhat nostalgic to hear Rice before he ascended to playing the large and somewhat impersonal halls his most recent tour has warranted, especially as he and Hannigan parted ways for these outings and it's evident from this recording how instrumental she was in building Rice's reputation with those trademark husky duets.

It's easy to see why the live album has been given a pre-Christmas release, and it's not just because of Hannigan's delightful and bitterly eerie version of 'Silent Night'. Damien Rice's deeply emotional lyrics and tender tunes are perfect for snuggling up with a loved one by the fire and reminiscing about past time.

They gave the CD an 11/13

Anyone know if the CD has been released in Canada yet? I can't seem to find it in Best Buy/Futureshop/HMV.
