Default the ultimate DR horror story...

So I went to the Damien Rice concert with my girlfriend who I am pretty serious with and she hated the concert. absolutely hated it. she lied to me at first but i could tell eventually. so I broke up with her today. not because she lied but I can't be with someone who doesn't like Damien or in the least bit, isn't attracted to the guy, and im a guy. would you dump her?

this situation above is fictional...but could happen to you or has already? Would you be able to go on with this other half or call it quits over Damien? Thankfully my one and only likes him, but are all of you so lucky?

err...sorry, im bored.

i would never dump a girl because she didnt like damien rice. thats a bit much in my opinion. damien doesnt surround my life. of course i enjoy his music and have done for a long time, but if people dont get him thats fine
and i get stick off some people for liking him so meh

also the main rule is... never ever bring a girl to see damien rice or any singer who is so emotionally attatched
they usually fall for the singer and your left with 3 smokes to stick up yer bum

well you see, i don't think that i could ever fall for a guy who didn't have the ability to enjoy damien. its not a preference, its a personality trait. its not that damien governs my life, however, that certain personality trait that a person who appriciates artists like damien is very important to me. so i always end up dating guys who either already adore artists such as damien or zeppelin or ours, or they end up adoring them after i've had my hands on them. its a personality trait.

does any of that make sense?

i was talking to ami earlier about how some people are way too obsessed with the man and in fact do let him govern their lives to some extent....the majority (in fact, i would venture to say, all) of my friends don't like damien and quite frankly i couldn't give a f.uck and the same would go for any guy. i would probably be disappointed for a minute then get over it if a guy didn't like damien. if you're talking a bit more liberal and in the sense of wider music taste then there may be an issue, i don't think i could go out with someone who had the opposite taste in music to me but then one should never say never.....music is a massive part of my life, but whether it governs my relationships is another matter altogether and something that perhaps i haven't thought about very much or something

i'm a little drunk which is, of course, my excuse if none of that makes sense!!!!

Seriously, if any girl absolutely hated a Damo concert I wouldn't want to be with her. It's not even a question of musical taste; it's a question of witnessing an artist who is completely fearless, spontaneous and emotionally naked. He gives everything he has in his soul and she isn't able to apreciate that? That's like a person who can't even appreciate the beauty of the setting sun. How could anything I did or said move someone that unfeeling?

Is that in the ballpark of what you meant too, Brooke?

Welcome!

Brit really never did it for me, so yeah. But it wouldn't matter if she looked like Rachel Weisz, Kate Winslet/Beckinsale or Kiera Knightly (can you tell I love me some of the other type of Brit chix?) a cold, passionless woman is not someone I'd want a meaningful relationship with (of course had she shown exceptional passion in another arena maybe we'd work some arrangement out) .

by disrespectful i meant they were talking while he was performing
wrong choice of words i guess,

i hate it too, even in a small crowd, when some people are not paying attention while i perform crucial parts of the song,

sorry 4 the misunderstanding

I wouldn't be able to date anyone who doesn't like DR. I'd think they have awful taste. My bf didnt like DR at first, and he made me really mad. But eventually he loves his music, almost more than I do. He's obsessed with DR. So I think you can try to change someone's point of view about DR. It's not hard.

Timmay,

1) Nope, I didn't know that.

2) I did figure it meant something other than how it sounded.

3) I am American, as it clearly indicates under: "Location".

4) I have more of a swimmer's physique.

5) I can't actually swim.

And I'd love if you tried to, but you weren't able. Then everyone in Ireland found out because Keira wrote a book about how funny it was, and when you walked down the street people were like; "Hey, there's yer man with the yoke shaped like a teaspoon".

Ok, here's the thing. There's a difference to not liking and total disrespecting. I could be with someone who didn't like John Lennon's music (my hero, if you don't know), but I couldn't be with someone who disrespected him. I mean, I don't like the rolling stones' music, but I respect them. If someone doesn't like something, that doesn't always show their character, but if they blantantly disrespect someone who has credit or merit and trys, or if they know nothing and just downright don't care and hate them, that's a difference and shows their character. So I wouldn't break up with someone because they just didn't like Damien Rice, but if they down right disrespected him completely, that's a problem. I wouldn't break up with the person JUST because of that, but it would create a rift that might lead to a breakup. It shows some of her character that she might be hiding that I didn't know of.

Also, I have a lot of disrespect for Britney Spears for 2 reasons. 1 she barely writes any of her stuff, and 2 she said that ANYONE can sit down and write an acoustic song but it takes REAL TALENT to write a pop song . . . that is total disrespect (and then read #1 again, does that make sense? ). You can't just have anyone sit down and write Sound of Silence, Imagine, the Blower's Daughter, Tangerine, Warehouse, or Pink Moon. THAT takes talent. You can take a computer and program a pop song anyday. ANYONE can write a basic pop song (to write a good pop song does take talent, but a basic one doesn't). That creates disrespect twards me and twards my principles.

Now, about the gay comments and such, we are just joking around about this, right?

1) Drop the "a" in my name.

2) Apologise

3) The fact that you are American is not clear because "location" is obscenely vague. It only states that you are in America, not a citizen

4) Learn To Swim

5) Learn To Swim
