Anyone ever met Damien
Has anyone ever met Damien after a show or before a show? If you have how was he? Let me know I would really like to try and meet him in Chicago if possible!

i met him after the philly show...he was great, but don't expect to get any pictures with him or autographs, 'cause he doesn't like to give them. his hugs are nice though.
oh and be patient, 'cause i waited for two hours for the trucks to load up all the equipment first before he came out.

I remember Spamlet mentionning that he met him sometime, but I'm not quite sure. It was very metaphorical, and I'm not really good in reading between lines.

I met him back in 2002 I think it was when the Cannonball single came out in Ireland, he played an instore gig in Tower, so he signed my copy of O and drew a pic of me on it! I was crushed out from that moment on :P
I also asked him could I steal a poster at the Rathmines instore gig. He was like I dunno it's not mine...it's still hanging on my wall. I'm a clepto when it comes to damien rice stuff...there was a poster for 9 on the bus today I was so tempted to steal it :P |

nobody has ever met him, he is a mysterious character similar to that of the irish leprachaun.

Also leprachauns don't have opposable thumbs which makes it difficult to hold a pen.

he signed my CD. I feel so special
he is the kinda person who like memories to be memories without a photo or a video clip. Well that's the impression I get anyway. |

I met Damien after the recent show in Washington, D.C. and he didn't sign anything or take any pictures. Someone asked him why he wasn't doing either and he said something along the lines of "the more you sign stuff and take pictures, the more people make you into something that you're not. I find that I can be more free with myself this way."

I met him in 04 after the Beacon show as well as the rest of the band. Everyone was very awesome, and very friendly. They all signed my copy of O at the time, and each added their own personal twist (Damien drew like a picture of the devil, Vyv wrote the word cello, with the "o" being the "o" on the cd, etc...).
I love the fact that Damien doesn't sign cds now, because I love his reasoning. He just wants to be one of us, and he acts like it, so I'm down.

I also hate begging for an autograph..hell, what´s an autograph? someones handwriting..wow..I don`t know what this should mean for me?!
I`d love to talk to him, look him in the eyes..catch a bit of his character..whatever.. I`m against autographs but I`d like to take a picture with him..I think that`s way different

I've met him a few times. He signed my guitar and drew a picture on it. I usually talk to him about lyrics that I can't quite make out on his unreleased songs. We invited him to go for chicken and waffles one time in LA, but he politely said that he was a vegan. Except for the autograph thing we usually treat him like he was just one of the boys.

my personal opinion is that a taken picture (especially a picture) or an autograph is a nice special memory.

obviously we're all entitled to our opinions...doesn't mean anyone's wrong/right.
he's already 'above' his fans as much as he doesn't want to be, because I know i've spent a lot of money on him... haha i feel a t shirt slogan coming on... Tickets to his concert: $100 Gas to get to the concert: $50 T-Shirt: $30 Seeing Damo live and meeting him afterwards: Priceless. = )

I just mean that for me it does not mean anything and that I think it`s a stupid custom...I wouldn`t give any autographs if I were a star. I`ve seen a local comedian and crowds longing for his autographs..i was in the crowd cause I wanted to talk to him..and people next to me were angry with me because I was in that crowd without anything to be signed by him...he was quite confused when I stood in front of him and didn´t give him a book to sign..I told him how much I like his films and said some words quoting a film by him and he just completed the quote and laughed... i just wonder why there were so many people just handing their books straight through the crowd giving it to him..while he never looked up seeming very pissed of..except when I was talking to him...so I`m not "against" autographs I just don´t like the custom. Me as a star would feel stupid to write down my name for somebody else...painting something or elsewhise putting something personal in it is different

I met him in the starbusks down the street from the el rey in LA on 11.13.06
he was really nice and funny, and we talked for about five minutes or so, but i felt rude b/c we were in a starbucks and all, and i didnt ask for an autograph or picture or anything. however...my friend salvatore met him in florence italy in 2003, and salv. told damien about me b/c i was the reason salv. started litsening to damien, so anyway...salv got an autograph for me from damien! i seriously think that is one of the nicest things anyone has ever ever done for me. here it is |

Miriam that's so cool!!! I'm sooooooo jealous!!!!
I'm amazed at how easy you all meet Damien and talk to him... I'll probably be speechless if I met him.I've met Tori Amos (since she does meet'n'greets) a few times and I can barely speak and say my name. Too overwhelming for me. |
