Default Infatuated with Damien

Damien Rice. Ah, he has certainly crossed borders to touch the souls of many.
My first encounter with Damien was on the way to school, sometime last year. Now, where I come from, the most listened to radio station plays non-stop hits 24 hours a day. Whoa, you say. Well, let me tell you that it's excruciatingly painful to listen to the same song over and over again. Anyway, that dark sombre morning was when I first heard The Blower's Daughter on an independent station. Well, to sum it all up, I was simply blown away. I had Damien's voice playing over and over in my head for the rest of the day(probably why I got nudged by the teacher and then whacked on the head).

Well, I finally got the album 'O' after going to 5 different stores. Loved it, simply loved it. So, damn the critics and nay-sayers. If they think the album is too slow and boring for them, well I suppose Hillary Duff and Aaron Carter with their bublegum-pop should keep them happy. 'O' may not be an album you'll take out for parties, but it's certainly an album to drown your sorrows in or to reflect on the past. Hell, it'll probably help you get through your break-up or alternately,as a gift to a loved one (Valentine's Day tip here).

What I'm trying to say is don't bother with the critics. Just listen to what you believe in. I've plenty of friends who can't stand Damien, but what the hell, they can listen to their pop stuff and boy-bands while I sit back, and continue my infatuation with Damien Rice.

Thanks alot guys! Anyway, I was wondering...what else do you Damien Rice's devotees listen to? My taste is kinda diverse, I would say. I'm into Sarah Maclachlan, Amos Lee, Tracy Chapman to more rock stuff such as Goo Goo Dolls and the Foo Fighters. Even, country music isn't that bad, you know. Lyle Lovett has my vote. But, it's Damien and Lisa's crooning that'll be stuck in my head for a long time.

WELCOME!

That feeling (when you first heard The Blower's Daughter), just brought all my own memories flooding back... Exactly the same.

I had to stop people from talking, like someone switched the light on for me.

I hope you enjoy this website. You find out lots and lots of Damien info and also lots about fellow eskimo's... very entertaining.

Pop sucks! It dosent mean anything, it has as much depth as a paddling pool. Damien has the gift of being able to put his wonderfully deep emotional lyrics into our heads and make the song ours, for just a minute, you are lost in thought, its like he opens a portal with his guitar and you can see what he's thinking and it brings out so much emotion, its crazy how talented he is. I heard the blowers daughter first at a funeral and it brought tears out in everybody.
