Default Deeply depressed - my guitar - or what's left over from it

Hey,

I just found out that my guitar is irreparable. I got it second hand for my 18th and just fell in love with it. Unfortunately it always was a bit damaged, that means some of those 6 thing with which you tune the guitar were missing. Now my mother decided to let it repair for me for christmas.
She just called me that my baby's got some cracks you just can't repair any more

Now I thought about buying one when I moved over to Ireland. I'm not sure yet whether it should be an acoustic one or a classic guitar again as I learned that a bit when I was young.

Maybe you could give me some advice? Which brand - how much the prices are on the green island etc...

'T would be grand!

Seconded.

I bought my acoustic when I was over in America last year for a fraction of the price it is over here....I'm not even sure it's available in Ireland.

You Should have a look at something over the internet I know the shipping maybe a bit expensive but it is a small price to pay if you find something you love... have a look at martin & co guitars they are a good quality guitar and not too expensive either....
good luck..

I've always fancied the Epiphone 'Dove', myself.

I believe it's around £300, though. :/

Thx...

but what's "overpriced" for you? The guitar I have/had would cost about 200€ at home and I'm really thinking of buying one in that category if not a bit more. Mine had such a warm sound, really beautiful and the wood at the back was slightly red. A wonderful instrument... That's why I don't really want to buy one via internet, because I want to play a bit first, to hear the sound, to see if it suits...

To answer your question emmet, yes, I want to move to Ireland. Either Cork or Dublin. I made that decision at the beginning of the summer but didn't really find a proper job yet. I wanted to move before the end of the year but I think now it's too short notice so I postponed my plans to the beginning of next year.

Overpriced is overpriced, I played the most beautiful Martin Acoustic worth $2300 in New York earlier in the year, would havecost €4000 here. You'll probably pay €300 for a guitar that would cost €200 on Thomann.de

i wouldnt go for a classical guitar to be honest.....they can be temperamental at the best of times....if its a semi-acoustic youre after, Takamines are excellent (although they really dont start to sound great until you plug them in), as are Yamaha, and they vary in price, expect to pay €500 - €600 for one of the better models, but you'll likely get a very good one for about €300 as well...Crafter also do a nice line in semi-acoustics for about €300, I have one of them myself and theyre a nice instrument to play, but theyre not very robust.

Taylor Taylor Taylor!!
Fantastic guitars! And they now make some less expensive models too. Range in price from about $550 (€469) to several thousand dollars. The cheapest model (the 100 series) is an excellent guitar for its price range, but I'd go for at least the 200 series for the added benefit of solid back and sides. Taylor guitars have a reputation for producing an incredibly balanced sound, and having wonderfully playing necks. The craftmanship is supurb. I have an older ovangkol/spruce model that has developed a great rich full-bodied complex sound. (can you tell I like Taylor guitars?)

Thanks for all the advices guys! I really appreciate it! I'd really luv to run into the next shop now and try everything out but that'll have to wait as I will need all the money for my relocation to Ireland.

But when the time has come I'm sure I'll have a look at all your recommendations

okay, that i don't go completely nuts here (altough the country is really great!!) i bought myself an early birthday present yesterday. and i think really worth the money. i love the sound. i have to play a guitar before i buy it so internetshopping was out of question for me. i went into three shops downtown and tried a few guitars but i fell in love in the last shop. a cruiser by crafter. black. beautiful. i love it. i'm not planning to smash it against the wall or so, so i think it should be robust enough for me...

Default Takamine's

I bought a used Takamine G Series (EG-15C) for $265.00. Personally, I think it was a steal.
