i think its just about obsessing. he is actually the pupil in denial. denial its over? ive always been very similar in relationships....refuse to accept its over, cant stop thinking of her and then...bang...i find somebody new.

yes. obsession. this is why the song is all too appropriate for the movie "Closer".. if you've seen it, the story is about being obsessed with someone you're not even meant to be with. we've all experienced it. sometimes you just can't do anything about it.

he actually told the story. basically, he had a major crush on his flute teacher's daughter, but he never did anything about it. and later when he wrote the song and tried to record it, he couldn't get it quite right, so he invited the blower's daughter to his house and played the song for her. and that's the actual version that's on the album.
