Anyone ever actually met the man himself?

just wondered. loads of people come on this site and talk about him, i just wondered if anyone had actually ever met him..

Yeah, a fair few of us I'd say... many people here who were going to gigs long before he was 'famous'. He's a nice guy. Lisa however... is LOVELY! [img]smileys/smiley2.gif[/img]

I could have met him at Glastonbury when he and Lisa walked right by me when I was leaving the acoustic tent after Roderigo y Gabriella go get lunch and they were going in to see Maria Doyle Kennedy but bottled it/decided against it.

Generally I wouldn't want to meet people whose music I like in case they turn out to be dicks and it spoils my enjoyment.

It basically went like this:

Me: "That was Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan back there"
My friend Rob: "Where?"
Me: "They just walked by"
MFR: "Oh, do you want to go back and talk to them?"
Me: "Nah, do you fancy a burger or something else."

I have a better not talking to Glen Hansard story but that can wait for another time.

i work with a guy whos met him twice, not even a fan or really knows who he is too much but strangley he looks alot like him.

A dig at Damien? Not intended, he's a nice guy. Any time I've met him he's been chatty, friendly, open, sincere... what do you want me to say?

i met damien a few weeks ago when he played in my town. it was my second time seeing him. my friend and i were walking back to our car after the gig, and i saw damien coming out of the bus, so i just yelled out "great show damien!" and my friend said "yeah thanks!!".. so damo ended up calling us over there and we chatted with him. he was super friendly and seemed so genuine. he was asking us all about what it's like to live here and everything else, and we were recommending that he try some of the local food and TEQUILA.

yeah, i met him a couple of times at his new york shows. one show at the south street seaport he was just walking around talking to the audience members and sat downby me to watch the opener (Alexi Murdoch). Lisa was also walking around buying balloons and getting drinks. good times, good times.....

I've never met him, butwork with his ex girlfriends current boyfriend.I'm always quizzing him about Damo.He's met him and his mother. He saidhis mamwas lovely. And Damo was very quiet. He's not really into Damo's music, although that's understandable seeing that it's his girlfriends ex!

I've met him three times. I'm not much for making a fuss over entertainers. If they are goodI view them the same way I would a good plumber, Inotherwords, I don't hang their picture on my wall, etc. I'm just interested in the music and could care less about their personal life.Normally I don't bother with autographs although my daughter likes to have guitars signed so I had him sign my Taylor. My discussions with him have been basically about lyrics (the meanings of or complaining about one line in "grey mood').

Why would you freeze up? Damien is a very down to earth guy. Just think: a year ago almost nobody in the US even knew him. Even this year he played to only eight people somewhere inthe middle of the country. There is no reason to be afraid, really. He's very approachable, cute, open and charming and you can just gab nonsense with him and have a good time! Make sure he has an ashtray so he doesn't have to leave you [img]smileys/smiley2.gif[/img]!

I chatted with him in Seattle in October. Very nice guy. The rest of the band is great too. Especially Vyvienne. I had asked her if she could sign my shirt and she said she would as soon as she would pack up her cello. I started walking of in the meantime. She actually came looking for me 10 minutes later and told me she had thought I was already gone. We chatted for a while. She is great. Never met Lisa. She is always missing on tour.

Go see Damien and gang at small clubs if you can and you are almost guaranteed to meet everybody. He always comes out to meet people after the show. I saw him 3 times. Great guy.

last night was my first show and I got there early to pickup a ticket, and he walked out to go get dinner. I stopped him and we talked a little and he signed my business card. Very nice guy to his fans.
