when listening to studio stuff i tend to imagine things that i can
relate to in the song and the live stuff i imagine being in the crown or looking onto the crowd from on stage perspective, most of damiens songs remind me of past times or expiriences which is why i love him (not literally)

When I listen to the second song in eskimo, or 'all dressed up', I
always picture Damien in a suit, in Prague (obviously). I see it in all black and white, with sorta a brown, old fashioned tint. For some reason he's at a bridge, staring down in to the river. He spends most of his time there debating whether he should go to the church where his old girlfriend is getting married, and when the loud part of the song comes "I could wait for you, like a hole in your boot.. etc" he starts running down the streets, until he ends up at the church, and bursts in the door. Just as that happens the loud part of the song ends, and he see's that his old girlfriend are her new husband have just kissed, meaning that it's already done. And then he looks up the aisle at her, as she finally sees him. Then he whispers 'cheers, darlin', here's to you and your lover'. Then he turns away, defeated, and finishes the rest of the song. That's always been one of my favorite songs. |

great story, dont mean to be a snob, but i cant help myself... the name of the song is prague, not all dressed up.... once again dont mean to be an ass, just casually correcting. And on that note, welcome to the igloo friend.

That was really beautiful... I get a lotof those same images from Prague but the church part was new.. (sounds kinda like that scene in The Graduate)... but the bridge, and the sepia colors... yeah. Thanks guys Yeah I've heard it
been called Prague and All Dressed up, I didn't know if it had an offical title. Have you seen the video for 'The Blower's daughter?' That's beautiful also. |

Yeah I watched it again last night, it is beautiful with the ocean and the sepia tones in it... But somewhere somebody said it reminded them of "The Ring" how Damien gets closer and closer to Lisa thru the video... now when I watch it I always think of that and it makes me laugh! Hahah, you're right! I never noticed that. ::runs over to watch the video again:: But as for the video, it's the first real </span>video
I've ever seen him do, it's almost too bad that there's all the 'Closer' footage in it... not to mention the stripper part. But I love the ocean in it, especially in the end, it just looks gorgeous. And I love the way Lisa's hair is blowing in the wind, it's a nice effect.</span> |

I agree, I'd prefer it without the Closer footage, but itis the first real video I guess, featuring Damien and Lisa in sort of a dramatic way (and they did very well with it too I think!) But have you seen the Cannonball video? Some ppl don't like it but I do... kinda artsy... but I don't think just for the sake of being artsy if ya know whatI mean Edited by: SisterMidnight

I don't think it's the remix, but drums were added to the track for the video, which wasn't a great ideaimo but still it's better than the remix. |

ahh yes thats right. i agree, but still, i hate tampering with tracks in general, especially one so, dare i say, delicate as cannonball. but this has already been discussed and it does not need to be exhausted in conversation on this forum any further.

i have numerous mental images when listening to his music...its so expansive, i would not know where to begin. these images are only enhanced being able to share this cd and his music with someone i love from the beginning of out relationship.

Whenever I hear cannonball now Ifeel myself sitting on a picinic table on a grassy cliff overlooking the ocean and crying. This is because when I was on vacation in Big Sur that's exactly what I did. I will never forget that moment. Since then I see that day and feel that air and remember that good cry.

ok ill tell one of mine ... when i hear blowers daughter i always picture myself with this woman ... im not sure who she is but of course she is beautiful and when damien starts singing "and so it is...." i picture the two of us having a cup of coffee and talking of course about how she was right about alot of things ... and then when the chorus comes "i cant take my eyes ...." i picture standing in the rain outside her window begging her to come out and forgive me for whatever it is ive done ... well thats kind of how i picture things

Its a lot of things for different songs, but ones that stick are for Delicate; just seeing my hands and the open page and the cd player and the carpet - which was how I listened to it the first time.I was listening too hard to read and it burnt itself into my head. And Amie is always forever associated with getting the train into London, coming into Charing Cross. I have no idea why - just going in over the bridge inthe sun.
