It's really a rather unkind song, considering we know who it's about. It's so catchy, though. He voice sounds amazing and it really shows his range.

I know! Such an unkind song, but so so catchy! The loop with the strings is simple but brilliant. Love the way he has sung the verse too!

Was this in MP3 only, or did I miss the link to download in FLAC?

I think it was only available in the wooden box bundle. I received it via a zip file in MP3.

Reason: Nevermind. His songs are always a bit obsessive. It might be me that's not as angsty as i used to be.

Oh! It was exclusive to the limited edition. Just like sometimes iTunes has exclusive bonus tracks.

Am I the only one who tried to figure if it's also hidden in the cd?
I tried to play the cd back (as it works with 9), and i tried to wait after the last song (as it works at O) but it didn't come... It would be really cool to find out in the end that it's hidden somewhere...

it´s normal these days to release multiple versions of an album with extra songs, the itunes version, the Japanese version, labels do it to milk fans and get more €€€€, at least we didn´t get the Target version

I think the lyrics are (but I could be very wrong!) :
You're not on my mind You know that's a lie Well I have been over thinking again But not 'cos of you You know thats not true Well nothing I'm saying makes any sense.... I'm not losing faith I just don't relate I don't do so well with waiting around So just let me know Do I hold or let go? Please do something.... 'Cos all I hear are your camarillas Compliment the nonsense you're knitting And colour in the fillers Rub you up with rubber love But they don't care. That's not fair I am aware I've punched up your private parties and more There I go again Dissing your friends But you've done the same But that's in the past There's no one to ask How long this will last I've shaved this silence But it keeps growing back So let it grow a beard And everyone cheers Cos freedom is wild And it means you But your camarillas Compliment the nonsense you're knitting And colour in the fillers Rub you up with rubber love I don't mean to be rude? And I'm not in a mood And even if I was, well surely that's only human? Better let it out With a quick scream and shout Maybe thats just how we're different...... I presume here the knitting is a direct reference to Lisa, who is a known knitter - and also who knitted the cover of her album? Or is that too obvious? Is this song really so directly about her? Wow.... Anyway, I think the "colour in the fillers" line potentially refers in a musical sense to filler tracks; as in those on an album considered to be the weakest songs. Kind of fits with the sentiment of the whole song and who it is potentially addressed to, as above. "Rub you up" is a term which means to get on the good side of someone but not necessarily sincerely. It also means affecting someone in a bad way emotionally i.e. rubbing someone up the wrong way. I think what he's trying to say here is the subject of the song is surrounded by people telling them what they want to hear just to get on the good side of him/her, including erasing (rubber love) any thought/mention of Damien. But then again I too could be knitting nonsense |

Sometimes I think Damien throws in red herrings, deliberate or otherwise, and probably sits back laughing as most people think 99% of his stuff is about Lisa when it really, really isn't.
Hard to see how this could be about anyone else though? |

I think you are taking things too literally... the whole knitting thing of course can just be a metaphor, and I think that's what it is.
The filler might just be something that fills the "holes" in the "thing she's knitting". meaning that she's angry at him, but her arguments are a bit nonsense to him, but she goes on "knitting" her idea, and where there are "holes" in that and she's maybe ready to let go, her friends convince her not to do it by filling those holes "with rubber love" Anyway, I do think it is about Lisa, but not as mean to her as some of you think... he's not really saying that the things that Lisa knits are nonsense and stuff like that... |

Yes, it's just venting, very straight forward, not that enigma to my ear. Comparing to his other angry songs, this one is really mellow. He has changed a lot

I tried to find hidden tracks on the cd too. I was surprised I could'nt find any.
O had 2 versions at least of hiden tracks. (One with Prague and Silent Night and one with Prague, Woman Like a Man and Silent Night). 9 had 9 crimes on guitar. I was waiting for at least for an hidden track or demo song.

I think the album is not just about Lisa, that is not Damien's style. Check out his video of the process of making the album and other interviews which he explains how the songs were worked out. I love his way of speaking, people think there are lots of metaphors but I more feel for him, it is just the right way he expresses himself as I used to write and speak in this kind of way but in my own way, eventually only few ppl could know what I said and thought I was a weirdo. So I had to find out how others spoke and did the way they normally did. I don't like it but have to learn their way. Some people are just different by nature.

Sorry to bump this thread but I just heard the song for the first time yesterday and I am hooked. Like straight up addicted, on repeat, over and over without any sight of quitting any time soon. I'll be brutally honest and say that when I first heard the entire MFFF album I wasn't immediately drawn to it like I have been to previous albums. Something felt off, after many listens through and through I came to love 'Colour Me' In and 'Trusty and True' but this song is, everything I love about Damien. I hate that it is so short, it could go on for 10 mins or so I'd be so okay with that. I will say, I didn't initially think it was about Lisa, at first I thought he was saying, "Your camarillas compliment the nonsense you're living..." but now I hear "knitting" very clearly... which is probably more than likely, a Lisa dig. I wouldn't have thought so but after hearing the recent interviews where he is still talking about Lisa... I don't think he can let this one go. To me it sounds like he's saying, "Rub you off with rubber love..." Not sure what that means, not to be gross but my first thought was that he was referring to masturbation. Rub you off, I can't have you so I'll just deal with it my own way... So I can stop thinking about you. I don't know...
There's no one to ask How long this will last I've shaved this silence But it keeps growing back So let it grow a beard And everyone cheers Because freedom is wild... I actually thought that may have been a direct reference the lengthy chunk of time that passed where Damien took himself out of the spot light. If this song is really about Lisa then I take this portion of the song to mean that he doesn't know how long the silence will last, he's shaved it off... maybe pushed it aside, but that feeling of wanting to reconnect keeps coming back. So he stopped fighting it, let the silence grow a beard... (literally), hid himself away from the world and well... freedom is wild. |

People will say not to take it so literally, but it's obviously about Lisa...the knitting reference/sea sew and her friends are not fond of him, I've heard Gavin Glass was particularly vocal about his disdain - although he did call himself converted on his radio show when he admitted he loved "My Favourite Faded Fantasy." (the song, not the album)
