Just thinking... maybe there are more questions that newbies need answered in the FAQs page... so, all you newbies come out with those questions you've been shy to ask...

Good idea, Wheels
I'll start! I read somewhere that Lisa sang backing vocals on the song "Mouthful Of Cavities" on Blind Melon's album 'Soup'. True or not? If true, are they distinct enough so it's worth getting the album (to hear Lisa, that is)? Aren't you glad you asked now? |

Hmm... well I was intending for people to ask the simple questions that every newbie should know... that's pretty advanced stuff Angela... I certainly can't answer it...

They had one or two huge songs, Emmett. You'd know them if ya heard them. "No Rain" was the name of 1, wasn't it Ang?
..."And all I can do is read a book to stay awake It tears my life away but its a great escape" It was out about 7 years ago I'd say! ignore me if I'm way off!!

Well, I rerad this somewhere. But now that you say it, I don't think it can be true. That CD did come out in 1995! Lis would have been 15 or something. Duh!
Next question! |

i have one... are there any explanations or backgrounds to damien's songs? for instance, the stories he tells in concert regarding the songs. a lot of them are so angst-filled, it makes me really want to know where/when/why they were written (this happens to me with good songwriters). |

Megan, a few threads have touched on the backgrounds of the songs... but might be an idea for a new section emmett?
Tania... don't know... I'm sure if he does she's called the cops on you, so lets hope they have broadband in Mountjoy... Pete, the third option, don't ask. |

wheels/emmett/whomever- the fansite i co-run for a folkband you've probably never heard of, caedmon's call, has this kind of feature. we call it the 'song vault' and we spent hundreds of hours putting together all the lyrics, along with explanations or little tidbits from the songwriter. of course, you may not have the time or desire to do something like that for this site. but if you do, it made our site fantastic. |

Well the lyrics are here... if anyone has some of the backgrounds to the songs I'm sure Emmett would put them up...

ahem. hundreds of hours sounds very appealing alright! i could do it for some of the songs anyway, from various recordings, such as the xm radio session in which he spent an hour playing songs and introducing them himself by explaining them. but doesn't it kind of ruin the mystery? i like the idea that a song can mean anything you want it to mean. |

i guess it is personal preference. i'm always much more connected with a song when i know the personal experience a songwriter went through to arrive with a piece. perhaps that is the writer in me that makes me connect with that process. yeah, i wouldn't necessarily commit hundreds of hours. i mean, my friends and i are insane, and that is the truth. hahah. if that is on the bootleg page, i will definitely check that out myself. i would say don't do it unless there is a serious demand for it! if you are interested, though, you are welcome to check out the format we used and the type of info we included. http://www.caedmonscall.net/songvault.htmEdited by: megan |

oy Damien in a thong.. you people are really gettin me all side tracked here.. but anyhow.. it would be interesting to see what exactly Damo means in some ofhis songs. especially since his music is sopersonal and basedon many of his own relationships (so it seems). nice site megan! who is caedmon's call? |

the best song catalogue thing is at www.ateaseweb.com. every radiohead song, with stuff from the band about it and the lyrics. must of took bloody ages though. a nice damien one of those would make me happy. im thinkin damo would be a cotton boxer man. proberbly stripey. i have been wrong on these things before mind.
