it´s so funny to listen to him saying he loves the population in iCeland is tiny: 320,000 people. he´s so right, but from my point of view think population iReland (about 4 millon) is tiny

I like that he is very environmentally friendly and worry about the earth and the fuel and everything but I just hope that doesnt mean less touring after the album is out.
we can buy paper printed in recycle paper :-) and plant trees but he needs to go touring! |

I think I was wrong about " I'm the greatest bastard you ever met"... But " I'm the greatest bastard that you know" because it rhymes with "(...)let you go". There is a song called "stuck". Vyv also played a new song. It was very beautiful, but I still can't find on iTunes ;-P

You know, I've heard him say this and similar things to fans in the past, and I'm quite bothered by it. He once called one guy a stalker for driving more than 1,000 miles for a show in California. I think it's quite rude and judgmental. He should be saying THANK YOU! and be totally grateful or else maybe people will stop traveling such great distances for his performances...

I don't take this jokes seriously. I am used to this kind of humor actually and I made a even worse joke giving him a "bad hair day" hat. I don't really think he was being rude or anything like that...it's just his spirit. He is not supposed to be perfect. And he actually paid us very good attention and was shaking hands and saying "thank you for coming" and talking to everyone who came to him after the sessions.I have absolutely nothing to complain about. I believe it might be a bit scary for some artists to see people coming all over the world to meet them. I was many times trying to put myself on his situation so I wouldn't cross the line,if you know what I mean. He doesn't like to take pics or give autographs but as one sweet 10 years old (or something) asked him for his autograph he said" I don't do autographs but I can draw your face if you let me to"... and while she was standing he did drawn her face on the paper...I thought it was lovely and even better than an autograph...

I prefer an artist answering me : Oh, you're a stalker. and smile/laughed because he is genuinely surprised, that an artist saying : "OOh, Thank you SOO MUCH", but that in fact he/she don't care at all and forget it 10 seconds after. We all know differents types of persons right ? With these guys, you will talk more freely, with this one, you don't talk dirty jokes, with this one, you don't make fun of religions, etc. If I have the chance to talk with Damien before/after a show and tell him I drove 1000 miles to see his gig and he reply : "Woaw, you're a crazy stalker.", I will just laugh and say : "Ah, ah. Yeah. Beware : I know where you sleep tonight" . To him, it's just a crazy thing to do, and he just said it. The "Have you seen the doctor recently ?" is quite funny and was very Damo-ish too. Kind of "déja vu" in what I could have writen, but at least, his "fans" should know (at a certain level) "who" they are talking to, as they are supposed to be more aware of his personality than non-fans. Much more than this. That seemed a very great moment to live there in the cold Iceland. Thank you all for the time taken for the pictures share, and video uploads. Wish a 3rd great album very soon.

Yeah, I have to agree with this, hey. Personally, I do believe that performers - regardless of discipline - should react to and engage with their audience with some degree of etiquette. I think that as much as there are lines that audience members shouldn't cross with the performer, there are also lines that the performer shouldn't cross with their audience members.

He said the same thing to me when I met him in Switzerland and told him I came from Chicago
he was surprise that anyone would travel that far. But I explained that I had business in Budapest and just made a pitstop in beautiful luzern to see him and David Gray. I'm sure he was not trying to insult anybody. Especially after hearing him talk about the autonomy of art and how it affects everyone differently. Some people spend thousands of dollars to see the Sisteen Chapel or the Mona Lisa. |

Ya, I don't think he was being rude either. His music's fantastic and we absolutely love him, but he's still human like you and me so it must feel weird to him to have people coming from all the way around the world to hear him sing and meet him.
Then again, he goes to all these places around the world to sing for us as well There's nothing wrong with it at all. I think it's wonderful to support an artist you love, and this was a really fantastic experience!!!! |

I also think it's more of a joke rather than an insult...
