im sure you all have yur own opinion but... dont you think O is being advertised a little too much ? all i hear now on the Tv and radio is that 'stones tought me to fly' etc etc. Damien doesnt need so much advertising, hes got the songs! they dont need pushing. because of the long period of time that O has been frequently advertised, people are expecting another album! that would be awesome but as Damien said (the free observer cd interview) he hasnt written recently, hes been happy!...... what you think guys? rushing? milking?

dylan ...i know you (and the rest of us) want the new album badly ... but as a musician myself it takes A LONG TIME to get it together produce it mix it and all the other crap that comes along with it ... im not sure they are milking O they just need time to get the new album together

Damo wants to produce the same organic sound as he had for O and look how long that took him to get together. Now he has more money I can't see that he wants to record an album the "proper" way with no artist interaction

his manegerment is worrying since he's not writing any songs, so they have to push this one to the maximum. ??

zach c, as amusician myself also, I totally understand what you mean, it takes forever, but at the same time, you have to try and maintain a true standard, whcih is quite hard when b sides are releaesed as a full CD. I know this seems perfectly fine but it is obviously a time buyer. x

i just heard on the radio this morning that he's working on the new one which he hopes will be out in February (YAY!)... although he hasnt written in a while let us not forget that he does have all those "unreleased" songs... such as blowers daughter pt 2, me my yoke and i, then go etc etc which will more than likely be on the new album! i don't think it's the album they're pluggingit's just the hacked to death radio version of cannonball... stupid OC making it known (as much as i LOVE that programme!!) yeah, its just that one song and now people who never knew damien but just knew the song are picking up on the blowers daughter.... i really am starting to feel a sense of jealousy towards irish people who have only recently discovered him and go on and on as if they're mates with him while i sit grumbling to myself in a corner because i've known about him for years but because i'm the person who listens to "new weird out there music" noone pays attention to me even though i can predict the next big thing from listening to one song! i swear to god i should work in a record company!!! ...OR i could set up my own.... how long is that post? sorry everyone!

I really haven't noticed the advertising... I only listen to Phantom FM - July 05! I think its cool if they are advertising it I think everyone should know Damien's music. Even now if I say I like Damien Rice they say "who?" |

My friend is the general manager of Phantom and the amount of work that goes on in there and them trying to get the license you wouldn't imagine!! Fair play to them. And not a big fan of the radio version of Cannonball. Am I the only person here that hasn't seen Damien live yet? Apart from that time he sang the Blowers Daughter on stage in Marlay Park. |

I'm going to throw in my opinion on this subject, but please don't get upset with me anyone, because I only read the first post. lol. I'm feeling too lazy to read tonight. This has been a fierce topic among the Tori community as well. There have been comments that she's selling out....that she's gone mainstream and commercial and all these other horrendous comments that just really bother me. Now I have been a Tori fan much longer than I've been a Damien fan. I've been with Tori since '96 and so I can say this as a true Ears with Feet. I am so thrilled that Tori is finally getting the recognition she deserves. Yes, she's being played on the radio more. Yes, she's being noticed by people who would have never paid her any mind prior to herswitching record labels. Yes, her music has become...softer. (She's also now a wife and a mommy. That changes alot.) Alot of people say that just because she's more commercial than she used to be and that because she's "softer" that she's lost her passion and she just wants the fame and money. And I have to say that is a cruel thing to say. I know that a small part of us all wants to keep our favorite artists to ourselves, but honestly...Her (and Damien's) music has touched me so profoundly, I'm thrilled that other people now have the opportunity to be touched in the same way I have. So everything that I said regarding Tori is the same way that I feeltoward Damien becoming more "commercial", if that's the word you choose to use. I'm afraid we all see that word as a curse word. These artists are amazing and they DO deserve the recognition. Just because they are more commercialized doesn't mean that their music is any less passionate or real. I say, let's be happy that others have the same opportunity to be touched as we have and let's be proud that we knew of them before others did. And let's be glad that they are FINALLY being recognized for the amazing musicians that they are!!!! |

you have your point Suede. the selfish
feeling is not neccessary at all. i don't like what most radio stations play, i would be only happier if they start to play more real music. no worries for me, what will be will be.
