Compressing video files???

Can anyone help? I have several videos from gigs including Amsterdam HMH that I would like to put up to the likes of Youtube but the file is too big as is.Can anyone please recommend a freeware programme that will do the job?
I have some of Blowers Daughter from about 30 feet at side of stage and very close up of Cheers Darlin' (though fate cruelly made me delete some earlier files to fit it all in as it ran out of memory!)
Much appreciated. Of course I will then pass link to the vids
(Plus Brian Wilson,The Frames and Genesis all in Holland over last 12 days!

Thanks-just d/loaded Google Video Updater but its taking ages as the first file is 330mb!
