The soundtrack to 'Once' is out now, it should be a lot easier to find then 'The Swell Season', I'm sure Road Records could get it out to you. AmazonUK has them both.

If I remember it correctly, Damien helped write the song, but hasn't ever performed it.

no, damien doesn't sing it on the once soundtrack. he's never recorded it and there aren't any recordings of him singing it live, i don't think he's even played it at a concert.

yeah i already have "the swell season" and "once" OST (both of which i would highly recommend...so good!) but they're not damien

the first time i heard "leave" i thought "this sounds like a damien rice song, it's so bitter" and then realized he had written it with glan hansard...

oh well thanks for all of your help!

yes it's true m'lady, let me elaborate on brother shyatt's succinct reply

apparently glen hansard of frames fame and damien wrote this song together, with conflicting accounts as to what degree damien contributed.. it's gone from they were writing a bunch of songs and working on this movie together (i swear i remember hearing damien was involved in the filming) to damien just threw in the lalala part at the end of leave (personally i think that's glen's story )

but i agree then go and leave are both similar in theme.. as in "you've hurt me enough so f*ck off now"

i'd love to hear damien's version of leave

Personally, I believe that this version must be true cause otherwise Damien would be credited in the booklet as the co-writer, wouldn't he? But he isn't. So I suppose it's basically a Glen song with some minor Damo influence...

And I love this song so much that I don't really think Damien could do a better job singing it.

well this is the story glen gave at first

http://www.eskimofriends.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=9405

and then there was other discussion about damien's involvement in the filming but that all kind of backed off when "once" was actually ready to be released.. i believe he thanked damien in the liner notes, so maybe damien just let him have the song, who knows.

You can listen to the concert in LA, were he said that the song was written together with Damien, on the Irish music central - the frames site:

When I saw the Swell Season play in November of last year he dedicated the song to Damien because he helped with the ending. He said that he wrote the song and was playing for Damien for some feedback and Damien told him to "go for it" at the end and just let it out. I took that as meaning the screaming, pain, angst, the la da dah da, but not that Damien wrote the song.
